The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Anyone familiar with the name Rich Johnson? I guess he is, or was, big into the Miata scene. Stopped by his shop in Medina, Backstreet Performance, to borrow his trailer to bring my dad's Firebird home. One of my friends is sponsored by him, so he's got the hook up!

Bunch of Miata's in there though. Couple torn down, and a couple that looked track ready. This one was cool...

Also a CTS-V coupe, 2 GTO's, Z06 and regular C5 vette, new Mustang from Pedders Suspension, old Jag getting an LS swap, and a F&F style RX-7 that had a LS motor in it. I had to think about dead puppies the entire time we were there...

I know Rich, he is a really nice guy. He and my dad were in the Northcoast Miata club together way back when. I had my Miata in his shop about 2-3 weeks ago too.

Would anyone happen to know any shops in the Akron area the specialize in Mazda's. Im looking to rebuild me P5's 2.0L motor. Keeping it all NA.

Yea, I saw a bunch of Miata club stuff all over the office. My buddy was telling me how he was a super bad ass driver back in the day too!

Josh, dead puppies?

Anything to keep my mind of getting chub...

More details?

So... the most interesting vehicle to be in the driveway has arrived. 1984 Land Rover 110. Diesel, RHD, right from England...

As the saying goes "pics or it didn't happen". Sounds interesting though. Wish we were free today/this weekend, I would have liked to make it up there for some wrenching and what not.

Well, the Nelson Ledges track weekend hasn't gone the smoothest. Yesterday at 8:00pm after I loaded the trailer and all my gear I noticed that the welds on my trailer hitch were cracking and starting to separate.

Get to the track this morning and realize that in my haste last night getting the car ready to drive to the track I cross-threaded a lug nut resulting in a broken wheel stud. A quick trip to Advance Auto Parts and I should be able to make my second session. I almost done even feel like driving now!

a bit pricey and Amber said one is enough. I wouldn't mod this one I swear.

I personally don't know any Mazda specific shops. But like Phen said, what are you looking to do? Rebuild the whole motor or just a timing belt/water pump kind of deal?

Famous last words! Although from the sound of some of your posts for the past like 2 or 3 months I truely believe that you would not mod it.

If it was completely stock I'd leave it alone. Nothing major like what I'm doing now.

How's it coming, by the way, Nate?

Finally got a chance to be in the garage again the past 2 days, I have a little more cutting to make 1 pipe fit by the radiator, then a vac line from the bov and I should be able to crank it over to make sure everything is working properly. Then it's just reassemble everything and the major stuff will be done and be drivable. Everything else I have planned is just little stuff like brake painting the rear calipers, and changing the pads and rotors; hood struts; and other things like that.

So, the MSP is sold and now I'm trying to decide between a low mileage FC or a P5... hmm. Also, isn't there a NASA event at Mid Ohio July 15-17? I have not seen a thread created about it and it is less than a month away.

Just got home from a 7 and a half hour drive in THIS! My new baby!
