Hopefully I'll have some money so I can pay for gas for my baby this summer.
No kidding. I get about 7 or 8 mpg in my '72 Chevelle (454 Big Block). $4/gallon gas is going to hurt. Nice car, I like the white and blue.

This makes me jealous. Is that 454 the same as the LS6 from the '70 SS? That's always been my dream car.No kidding. I get about 7 or 8 mpg in my '72 Chevelle (454 Big Block). $4/gallon gas is going to hurt. Nice car, I like the white and blue.
They're really not all that light - about the same weight as an all-aluminum small block chevy engine. Now if I had the full Racing Beat aluminum 13B then I might be able to just pull it out myself (~100 lbs). Too bad I don't have the money to spend ~$1k per iron to build an engine! It's a rotary... Man up and lift it out.

Thanks Bill. What color is your Chevelle?
My car originally came with a 307 (one of the worst engines GM ever made). The engine I have now is a 78 block with older heads and a circle track cam. Doesn't like to idle very well, so when I get around to doing a rebuild of the car, the engine will get some changes. This makes me jealous. Is that 454 the same as the LS6 from the '70 SS? mmmmmmm..... 72 chevelle...... mmmmmmm, my dream car haha been in love with that car since i watched F&F
That was after '72. The 454 in the '70 Chevelle made 450 HP. But you are right, I know someone with a mid-70's Cadillac. The stock 500 c.i. (8.2L) engine made like 200 HP. That's only 24.4 HP/L!The muscle cars crack me up with the big engines and low hp. My Bavaria when new had a 3.0L and made 180 hp. Look at the new BMW's with the 3.0L's and they're making... 220 ish? Not too far off the mark, I'd say...

Close. The 3.0L makes about 260-270 hp n/a. 300+hp for the boosted one.
Edit: I cheated and called my pops.
