The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Did you have any issues on your last run? I remember you had a startup issue and some popcorn in the exhaust lol.
I don't recall the car running strangely at all, or even during the drive to get gas/lunch just prior. My fear is that I have a failed coolant o-ring (these line the rotor housings to keep the coolant in the passages and out of the combustion chamber) or even worse, a cracked rotor housing. However, if that was the case and I'm dumping coolant into the combustion chamber, possibly being the source of the hard start, then wouldn't there be white smoke everywhere and a "sweet" smelling exhaust?! I expected a huge cloud of white smoke this morning (after sitting for nearly 12 hours) but fortunately there was nothing - it even started better than it did yesterday without all the popping.

trying is the key word. I have enough s*** in my head already, I don't think I can have more than one smart ass personality in there... I have some dance moves, but I'm usually not that drunk to be like Jasen (with no drinks mind you)

I'm naturally drunk.

Josh, don't buy anything until I come over tomorrow, buddy. I don't want you to waste any money, especially buying a new/used motor. Be patient and wait till tomorrow. I'll tell you all I know about the P5 and the FS-DE/ZE and KL-DE/ZE and I'm sure I'll be sending a few texts to Phen for verification. haha! Josh, you should start a build thread and we can all help you out in there.

Levi, I take it the Koni install didn't go well this weekend?

Jon, glad you made it home okay, buddy. The thought of a breakdown at the track always worries me too, and I don't even run!

Nate, you should make an air diverter like Bill Brees and now Marlon has. He had some cooling issues this weekend because of his front mount. Sucks about the bolt, gotta read the fine print! I know I almost made the same mistake when Pablo and I replaced the head gaskets on the KL.

I'll look at Bill's site, I have Steve's old adp from when he did his part out earlier this year. Is marlon still running the stock radiator? I have a full length mishimoto the Doc B uses on his mp3 race car so I hope I'm fine

and orderd the bolts, $3.37 a peice

Hopefully the weather next Sunday is the same as yesterday. The first NWOR SCCA event is next week and the forcast now is in the 40's. WTF?

I have a job interveiw today...more of a just seeing what's out there kinda thing.

Morning all! Another wet/soggy day here. Painted Kaila's room Sunday...blue ceiling is now white, beach mural is now pink along with the purple walls. Left a four foot wide section of one wall purple and going to paint it with the dry erase paint this upcoming weekend as well as put up her new fan.

Good luck Nate!

Good luck for sure Nate! Whether it is a "seeing what's out there" thing or not, getting an offer is always a nice feeling.

It's so depressing looking at too many 2jz and rb26 dyno graphs... 600+whp on totally stock motors, just bolt on a bigger intake mani, turbo, exhaust, and some big fuel supply and tune it. Oh, and before I hear the "it's more fun to go around a track than in a straight line" argument, one was an "R14" awd 240sx with an rb26 under the hood, 750awhp built by Full Race for time attack. That one wasn't a stock engine internally, but it does tear up the track.

Not all motors were created equal, eh? lol

It was called Vector Marketing. Seemed kinda sketchy and after the interveiw I googled them and a bunch of things about scams and pyramid so I don't think I'm gonna do it.

Yeah, I got mail from them several times while I was in HS and figured it was a scam-type deal, so I called them with my number blocked and after waiting on hold for 5-10 minutes listening to ads the whole time, I got a recording saying that they don't accept calls from blocked numbers and it automatically hung up. Later on campus, I saw guys passing out info pamphlets about the company, and I think they were selling knives. The whole thing definitely seems shrouded in sketchyness.

I have a job

Yeah. You'll be selling Cutco knifes. It's a good product but you got to bust your ass to make money.

^ Those made me happy! I would not run them but they look pretty badass.

The advan sa3r that they replicate come in all sorts of sizes that could work, but also cost close to 4x that.

Mazda called, the bolts are in already so I'm picking those up after class. Hopefully I'll get the cams and timing belt done tomorrow night then.

If you have a full length radiator then you are fine. The problem is if you keep the shorter radiator from the MSP then the air can flow right around it at the location where the side mount intercooler used to be. I decided to keep the stock radiator and just put in an air deflector because I'm cheap. Here's what that looks like:
