Why? What size tires will you be running?
they have 215/45/17 tires on them right now
I just scored me a big one!
assuming that means you got the place... congrats!!

I don't see you rubbing much in the front. I don't think you'll be low enough. If the tires were fatty boom batty, then maybe. But still, only with the wheels turned. Even then, proper caster & toe should counter the rubbing from that, unless you're "slammed," which you're not. The 17x8 w/ a 215/45 is going to give you a lot more flexibility than you're current wheels, due to the angles that the tires will be in comparison to the fender lips.
yes they will likely fit to drive daily now and probably only rub minimally but when i say fit i want them to not rub if i find a winding road and want to beat on the car for a little, decide to go to a track day with marlon and the other ohio guys, or decide to go to an autocross... so for that im going to have to do some tweaking...
With regards to thrashing on it during some track & fun runs, I'm still pretty confident that your rubbing issues will be in the rear, not the front. When you beat on it through twisties, there's a lot of inertia transfer placed on the outer rear wheel/tire thru a turn. The spring rate is also the lowest and most susceptible at that spot comparatively, thus suspension travel is the greatest. This is where I would suspect the rubbing to occur. But maybe I'm wrong.
Just get some coilovers.
PS, if those wheels are as light as you said, you'll notice a considerable difference in ride quality over those heavy ass wheels you've got now. I was amazed at the overall improvement in driveability and ride quality when I went from a 22lb wheel to a sub 15lb wheel.
215s on 8" wide?...ummm....gotta love it when the tires are free though!
just mine had 225s and too much lip showed...i hit a rough railroad track and gouged the lip pretty bad....
Unless the wheel's hub bore is much larger (i.e. used with hub rings on the RX-7), I'd be worried they won't fit. I say this because the FC RX-7 hub bore is 59.6mm - much smaller than the 67.1 mm hub bore on the Proteges or 3s.the wheels i bought look great and came off an FC rx7 so the hub bore is a good fit
So late in responding to this:

Damn, sorry, I figured I'd just let you know. Do you know if the wheels required hubcentric rings on the RX-7? They could be like my RPF1's, which have a 76mm hub bore, in which case they'd fit just fine. Hopefully that's the case...well **** that just ruined my mood...ill run out over lunch and measure the hub bore and find out exactly what it is
Landed a house with a 2 car garage. The guy said it's 26x24.
no, i just confirmed they are plenty big... they measure like 2-7/8" so that comes out to over 70some mm's (too lazy to do the actual math right now haha) and my hubs are 67.1
also looks like my buddy is an idiot (ill forgive him, since it was dark and i couldnt read it either haha) but the wheels are actually a 40 offset so they should fit no problem
now just to get the two 255's pulled and mount up the other two 215's and ill be ready to roll![]()
Hey Ivan, look what I found (since wheels are the current topic). These are going to be my track wheels next year, now I'm going to sell my winter tires and get narrower ones to avoid rubbing on the MS6 wheels. Sorry for the bad timing Evan #2
I'm jealous. I have no money for wheels, or anything else car realated til maybe after x-mas.
