The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

never had snow tires.

lived in MN for 24 years. (not all driving years lol)

would be nice, but would be a lot of expense. plus, around here, just like around there im sure, you really only need them for a few days. really only snows 5 times a year that would warrant them. they tend to wear fast on dry roads. i would use them up in a couple years and barely have needed them. hell, i drove 2 winters on nearly worn out stock p5 tires. yup that is right, the crappy dunflops i drove 80 miles roundtrip through 2 winters. i made it to 65000 miles on them. dont think anyone else got that far. (when i replaced them all 4 had tread that was separating)

lol

I've been driving on the road during just about every snow storm basically every year. One of the draw backs to having to drive for work. This year is the first year I'm looking forward to it.

Evan, if the Browns didn't play Sunday at 1 I'd be game.

You are nuts! I would definitely look into getting snow tires. there's always deals on Craigslist for cheap snow tires.

And if you want new, I would suggest some Dunlop Sport M3s. I will be going into my third winter with them and they still have half their tread left from new. My car is like a tank in the snow. Very stable even in the deep stuff.

with snow tires i would need another set of wheels, mounting, balancing, and such. my next car i will think about it for sure.

and when i was driving on the dunflops, i really didnt have money. now i do have money, but i just bought a house and dont want to spend if i dont need to. also, my drive is pretty straight. just dont turn sharply like a moron and you are ok in the snow. however, lowering the car would add more troubles than i want. thus why i keep it stock height.

Anyone have experience with Fel Pro, Beck/Arnley, or "RockAuto" gaskets? I'm checking out my options on rockauto, and I'm not sure which direction to go. I don't plan on keeping the Miata beyond next spring, so if they don't last forever, that's okay, I just want them to hold out until I get it sold. I'm not looking to dump it on someone with problems, but I just don't want to dump 150$ on gaskets, either.

Right now I'm thinking it's the head gasket that's leaking because that would also explain the 'crazy' oil gauge readings.

Fel Pro--almost postive I used them on the Mustang build. I believe i have my own fel-pro intake mani gasket waiting for the MS3 when I remove the intake mani to install the catch can I still have laying around...

I like that rockauto site--but have never ordered anything..

BTW I wish I had money for a miata...I want a spec miata race car BAD!

Man I should have used that web site. Would have saved $20 on the total purchase of the control arms. Next time I'll use it for sure.

Fel-pro is probably the largest gasket maker in the world. Beck/Arnley manufactures OEM replacement parts for Toyota and numerous other car companies and make good parts.

Thanks for the info! I've haven't had to buy gaskets yet, so I don't know what to look for. I learned the hard way about oil filters when I got a Fram.. lol

There's one on Craigs that's in better cosmetic condition than mine with 150k miles and the guy just repaired the only problems that it had supposedly and he's selling for 1k.
