The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

interesting tire carrier.

Ivan, I would find a car 2-3K under my budget just incase anything should come up.

Can you explain this? I'm not aware of any lubrication properties of sulfur compounds. It's my understanding that the sulfur in diesel fuel is a product of the refining process and impurities in the crude petroleum. Sorry, I just can't buy that low-sulfur fuel is harmful when my wife's TDI manual states explicitly to use it. That would be like saying E85 is harmful to flex fuel vehicles...
that is due to your wifes car being a clean diesel probably 2007 and newer which is mandated by the government to run on low sulfur. but older diesels are designed to use higher sulfur contents and these diesels use the sulfur content to lube the high pressure fuel systems.

Yeah, it's a 2010. I'm familiar with the environmental impact of sulfur in fuels (it's a big problem in the jet engine industry), but I wasn't aware that it also added lubricity (is that a word?) to the fuel. Sounds like they're using various additives now so like you said, not really a problem for the newer diesels. However, just like increasing the ethanol content in gasolene, reducing the sulfur content in diesel will hurt the older vehicles...

EDIT: Actually, four sections down in that Wiki article explains the exact process I've been promoting (if anyone is interested).

Worked through some financial stuff and decided that I will be purchasing a 2009 Speed3 around march of next year. Looking to go with a CWP. Plans are hypertech and an intake. Rear mount inserts (if they have them) and leaving it alone as far as major mods go. Time to have a reliable, fast car.

Ha! I'll give you 3 months before it's lowered and on new wheels, at least. But I'm glad you're staying in the Mazda family, buddy! I think eventually all us Protege guys will have Speed3's and the Speed3 guys will all move on to the next MazdaSpeed car. Protege guys are kinda like the little brothers who get the hand-me-downs. :)

ps- you still should've come on the fun run today. Boo.

Prokit fail. Don't do that.

(Levi was trying to type that but the forum crapped out on him)

only two. They tried have a road race the same weekend as an oval race, didn't workout

they could maybe do it at Indy and Daytona, where there is an infield track, but that would change procedures and parking (at indy atleast)

Do that. I would like to know how it goes. Just testing, right? You didn't make the fun run, what happened? Work?

Looks like I've got a bit of research to do in the mean time. Either way, it'll be a while after I get the car before it gets lowered anyway. Thanks for the heads up though :D
I have no idea why Eibach's blow. Bad experience, or just cause he runs another brand?

MS3s have a billion aftermarket rear mounts--not only do they have them, they are about 99.9% neccessary if you want to drive the car properly...It just comes down to how stiff you want it and how much you can deal with vibrations. Oh, and I would get a brand new mount, not inserts. I'm pumped for you! Plus, I see you are sticking with them white cars....CWP is purty

the prokits are WAYYY to soft for the 3 IMO, rode in a friends car with them and it felt softer than stock... far too mushy to ever feel good about pushing them in the corners but thats just my opinion

they are good if you want to drop the car just for looks, but most of us want to drop it for the gained handling
