The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Just sucks to ruin such a good thing to try something else to see if it works.

it's random thread, randomly interject something, it's easy to get us onto another topic.

hood latch on and hopefully forever, if not i might die.

I have to make sure to see how you did yours because if you die by the time I get mine, I'll know exactly how NOT to do it :D

Should be a good game. i want to go so bad, but crappy seats are $200.

You excited about monday?
You bet - I have cleared my schedule for that day! This game will definitely set the pace for the rest of the season. It sucks I only get to go to one game this year. At least it's the UVA game and it's always good to watch them lose.

So, who wants to start up "the 'my car can actually complete a lap around a track because it is set up for ideal handling' thread"? We can take pictures of our cars' setups and pics of them on track...

On a side note, and a long one at that (because it is getting late and I am long-winded when I am tired):

I wanted to get your guys' opinions first because for the most part you guys know me from my posts (and Saturday's BBQ...) and I wouldn't dare post something outside of here...yet. Just give me an honest opinion an if this is a good idea or something that would be impossible.

I don't do much volunteering, and am too selfish for charity work. However, if fun is involved for me, then I am all for it. Now that I have aftermarket wheels, I want to have some fun with my stockers and use them in the winter for the good of a charity.

In a nutshell, here is what I propose: Remember in school when you had penny wars? The classroom that collected the most pennies after a period of time won something. I want to start a penny war where people donate money to get to choose the color my stock wheels will be painted. Simply, the color that collects the most donation money wins! I would then start a blog, taking lots of pictures of my car with those crazy colored wheels on and commenting on what is going on. I mean, I don't travel, but I think people would enjoy reading about my latest trip to the gas station with hot pink or bright blue wheels on my car--some of the reactions I get would be hilarious!

So, hypothetically, I set up a Paypal account. You can donate me money (any amount), putting the color choice in the 'notes'. (Color choices will be colors of rainbow-ROY G BIV, except I=pink) The penny war lasts all year, starting the day after a winning color is decided. The stock wheels will then be painted and put on the car, let's say from Dec. 1st to April 15th each year. All money collected would go to a charity (I'm thinking the Salvation Army, since it is during the holiday season in which my wheels go on...) and the penny war resets at $0 for each color.

This is just the beginning of what I'm thinking about, but I think with the backing of the right people (Antoine, 247 owner & maybe Mazdaspeed or individual race teams---Marlon?) this thing could be promoted into something big... That scares me too, that it would be too big for me to handle and I'd just let everybody down.

I want to make it clear I am not looking for anything out of this. 100% proceeds will go to charity--I will buy my own spray paint and put the work in repainting them each summer myself. Is this a stupid idea? All comments and criticisms welcome. I mean, if it doesn't happen, it doesn't hurt me any. Thanks, and sorryy for making you read this much late at night!

I've been working with a guy in Texas that owns DPTune.com. He has 1st and 2nd gen speeds cracked. As well as 1st gen regular 3's. Had the car tuned in the spring, sent it back for a couple times for fine tuning. So far so good. Speed limiter at 118 is gone, Rev limiter reset to 8k. Drive by wire is on a 1:1 ratio between the loud pedal and the throttle body. It still is a bit rich up top, but I would rather play it safe. Marlon, do you know if Jim is using Mazda Edit or Piasini software? They are the only two I know of for the 3's at the moment. Attached are the before and after dyno, and a top speed run. Not to much hp was made up top, but there is a big difference in torque. Like the gain of 20 at 2050rpm.....

I'm sorry, Sean. But I was just watching a cop show with high speed chases and your car can do 141mph? That's epic. Muhaha!

Thanks Man. Well technically it was on my conti's, which are 215/50r17's. Stock is 205/50r17's. So I think the math puts it around 145. But who's counting! I can't wait to force the induction issue this winter. Salt flats here I come.

Jri4, I can see it going both ways. You might have a few hits at the beginning, and then people would lose interest. Or it might be a big thing that catches on. Try to put yourself in the potential donator's shoes, would you pay to see some guy you don't know across the country paint his wheels and drive to the gas station? I'm not trying to shoot your idea down, I just like playing devil's advocate. :)

But other than that, you've really got nothing to lose, so I'd say go for it!
