The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Yeah- that rear strut bar is just silly. One little bolt isn't going to tighten the chasis up. Haha!

I'm really debating on buying a newer FS-DE and MSP turbo for my P5 since she is highly modified already and I LOVE my car or buying Kevins FC. I know the FC is the way to go but I'm one month away from not having a car payment anymore, it would be nice to not have another one. We were kinda half joking about me taking over payments from him while he was wrenching on his Protege this weekend... That car is just sexy and it's just been sitting in our backyard for 2 months now and he doesn't want 2 cars anymore. It just makes sense to have RWD and turbo and have I mentioned how sexy that car looks? It will def need some work but all I've got is time, patience and a garage full of tools. But I would have to do a TON of research, I don't know jack about rotories. Hmmm... Sorry guys, just thinking outloud. Ignore this post.

i say keep the p5 as is, assuiming it's reliable and dd that and mke the fc the fun project weekend car, if you want two cars that is

I have a very good friend that can help you out Evan, his name is Marc Porschke and he even has a lift in his garage. He lives in Copley and is a rotart genius! If you go for it, let me know and i will put you two together!

haha, this is why i got that strange txt from you!

i'm still thinking about what to do about all this car stuff too... i guess i'd like to see if the 7 is actually fixable... but Evan i think you're right...i might be done with modding the protege; i want to actually start saving money and paying off debts... not just sink it into a 4-door saloon; i mean i know a turbo would be fun and all in a protege, but do want a reliable car that i can take on road trips, travel, and still go on the track from time to time, i think going turbo might be more hassle than it's worth...
i should just stick to the FC which is already turbo...or shall i say turboII haha! and do things to that...naughty things...HAHAHA

we'll see! much thinking will be happening!

That FC is absolutely jaw dropping. But I've also never really seen one up close in real life. Seriously, though. I'd love to have one some day, it just screams classy. At least that's what I hear.

Evan, as a new 'owner' of two cars, I can tell you it's worth it. I mean neither of mine cost even half as much as your P5, I'm sure, but I hope you get what I'm saying. There's so much to be said for being able to work on a car without having to worry about having it run the next day.

Give in to meeeee, Kevin... Sell the FC to meeeeee, Kevin.... muhahahaaaa....

I've owned two cars at once and it was fun. I had my 93 Civic hatch that was basically like your Miata, Wes. Completely gutted and tons of work done but wasn't a very practical DD but that's why I had my 97 Civic coupe lightly modded. But I stored the 93' at my grandmothers and was a pain to drive over there, drive the 93' and have some fun, then store it and drive the 97' back home again. But now that we've got some room and space it would be great to have 2 cars, just like you said. One I could work on and not have to worry about buttoning up before work in the morning...

I was looking on Craiglist last night and RX7's are pretty rare. And no offense but I'm not hip to owning a Miata. I don't know, just thinking out loud again.

All I know is that I'll have to get rid of one of my cars to allow room for the RX7 if you buy it.

The RX7 is fixable. It's just seals. Old seals, tortured by a quick temperature change.

Nice, congrats! You said they were wheels on your shortlist that you really wanted, right? If so, I'm guessing Enkei--can't wait to see them!

Cancel, that...I think I know--let's jsut say I snooped around for about 1 minute and might have found the answer.....I dunno! Anyways good luck and congrats!

Evan, try "craiglook.com" it will let you search up to 250 miles from your location. They're not rare when you have the right tools at your disposal.

Man, just now after seeing a few pictures, I can feel myself slipping towards wanting one right now. The problem is it'd be super unpractical for me to get one now. It's going to eat a lot more money than a Miata will, but then by the time I can more feasibly get one down the road, I'm betting they'll be into 'classic' mode, and the price will shoot up. My buddy tracks cars on Craigs and see trends, like which cars go classic when and what happens to the price, so I've heard all about it. It's usually best to get something about 15-18 years old, which is when it's at its least desirable phase. Then they get rare and expensive really fast. A good example is the fox bodies. They're about to go classic, and some of them have already started to get expensive.

Who thought there was strategy in buying cars?

Ya, I really haven't hidden what they are if you look in the right places, lol.

They're lighter than rpf1's. ;)

I sent payment on 8/14... First contacted the seller on 8/6, IIRC. I'm curious, where did you get Aug. 8th from?

stalker aleart!

i bought a 75 camaro 11 years ago but those haven't really become a "classic". still the best dollar i ever spent though.

So alignment is needed tonight... Thinking about going to Firestone to get the unlimited alignment package that they offer. Have any of you guys done this? Any experience with Firestone? Good? Bad?

Any other shops you recommend? Do you stay small or use a large(chain) shop?

I've had that on my last 4 cars loved it. For the price it can't be beat. I've even had my civic with coliovers, and adjustable f&R suspension aligned there.
