Get the rx7! I had an '83 for a summer and it was so much fun. Blew an apex seal and sold it, I still miss it. I really like the 2nd gens too. Only complaint I have on them is the size, they are pretty cramped inside. Actually, come to think of it, thats probably why it is so much fun. I'm remembering the sloppy (non rack and pinion) steering that it had. I remember reading the first gen rx7 lifted the steering from the Mazda truck of the time.

2nd gens aren't that cramped.. I'm 6'1 and was quite comfortable when I drove one I was thinking about buying.. Damn thing was just SLOW!

I feel ya. I didn't think my fc was cramped at all. I think mazda is pretty good about making their interiors relatively comfortable. The miata is a bit small, but when you're working with an over sized go-cart, you can only do so much. (yippy)

Yeah, I just got a miata and I love it. So much so, that I wish I would have got a miata instead of an msp. Granted they are both different ends of the spectrum but at the same time. The miata is much fun and so much cheaper. I would have had just as much fun in the miata as I would have in the msp. Now I have both its the best of both worlds I guess. Miata is a small fun DD and the msp is what I want to take out on sundays. Boosted to the hilt and fun to drive.

my fiance constantly tells me that he wishes he had a miata instead of messing with our 3...just because with the amount of money we've dumped in the 3, we could've had a sweet miata and kept the 3 as a dd...but we didn't think about that and now our 3 is always "broken" and in the garage waiting on parts

I know I'm late to the conversation but around town, my RX-7 feels faster than my old P5 did. Sure, once I mash the throttle the difference is clearly evident (I still wait for the turbo to kick in ) but I really do prefer the RX-7 to the P5 when it comes to being a performance vehicle.
