The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

i've never waited more than 15-20 minutes (dunno) but then again i've only been to the Cleveland Heights one...

starting to get some heavy white smoke out the exhaust in the mornings. looks like i get to do a little de-modding to get it covered under the extension mazda is making for the issues.

We have a couple of helmets, we have both of our old G force helmets as we both have Sparco Helmets!

Ivan, if you plan on tracking Shamu more and more, why not just buy your own?

^ there are certain requirements for helmets and they differ from tracking and autocrossing some, just make sure if you get one its up to snuff for both (if im not mistaken, tracking is more stringent with specs for helmets)

just would hate to see someone buy one and then not have it up to spec

regarding all the drama the other day, i was only trying to state what josh and phen had already said, i am sorry if i said/worded it poorly... i also apologize for losing my cool and lashing out at you evan... for some reason we butt heads alot on the forum, even though i have no issues with you in person...

anyway, whats happened the last few days since ive been out of town for a last minute project with work?

Snell rating is a must. Some local Autocross events will let you get away with m rated helmets. I prefer to be safe and go with what is accepted at all events which are the SA helmets. Depending on whether it is 2005 or 2010, it will be good until either 2015 or 2020. I wouldn't cheap out on a helmet. Snell has an explanation of all tests carried out on helmets to gain the certification as well as a full list on their website.

sounds good man, just wanted to bring that to your attention in case you didnt already know it

I have a large and Lauri has a medium helmet......both are M rated good for auto-x and some track days, Nelson & BeaveRun....you an always borrower my Sparco since we are not running in the same group in track days

Ivan, check out Pyrotect and their Pro-airflow series. Their helmets run almost exactly like Bell's, which are large and spacious, but are cheaper as well. I also have a large head and I think I went with a M helmet. I have one of their SA 2005 helmets (Pro-airflow, gloss black) and while I do like it I'm wondering if I should try to find an over all smaller helmet for more headroom in the RX-7.

Marlon, I believe I will take you up on that offer for the Autocross on June 3rd. I will then find which one I want to buy for myself :). You're the man.

I will definitely look into the pyrotects. Thanks!!

^^^ Yeah, I sent Ivan a text yesterday that it sucks we're finally coming to Toledo and you're car will be down... I hope she's back together by then. You've got time. :)

Well I went over to my friends house where the MSP is tore apart and looks like I'm going to have to either get a new crank or get this one turned down. I tried fitting the other good bearings in that cylinder position and they have just a hair of play. They might not knock at first, but after a good autoX it would be another tear down. So I probably won't have her ready for the 3rd, but for our little August weekend meet/race at the TEA she should be good to go. I'm replacing all the bottom end bearing, piston rings, timing belt, tension motor mounts, and all the gaskets. I'm going to port the intake and turbo while they are off and do a little wire tuck(maybe) for the top of the motor. Good thing I picked up a 2nd job. I'll either be running my friends new Fusion Sport AWD or the 2 in SM. Good times.
