So now I'm wondering if they are broke off in there or just missing. Mine is cracked on cyl 2 and starting to on 4. I really don't want to drill out and tap a new hole in the head if I don't have to.The 2 bolts on the far left (cyl 1) were broken when I changed mine. No cracks in my mani though
Speed6 project anyone???
the engine blew (threw a ROD) and a local dealership told me the block couldn't be salvaged and I would need a whole new engine, Not sure I believe them.
Usually a hole in the block is a big deal...

lol, I like the "not sure I believe them" I take it he didn't want to try a independent shopUsually a hole in the block is a big deal...
If I had the money, space and time I would consider itSince when is a hole in the block a big deal to the DIY'ers on this forum? $6000 for a LOW mileage Speed6, $3000-$5000 for a motor (IF that...seems a bit high to me, but I get better prices than yous guys) and you have an amazing car, that usually goes for $17,000-$20,000, for $10,000 or less! And you guys have boners for dude's Miata because it's such a "good deal". lol
Seems like a no brainer to me, for someone in the market for one. I passed the info to my neighbor, he said it was "tempting" haha I almost feel like asking my buddy for some more money so I can flip this!
I don't believe they are the same engine, but If it was to keep I'd put a built motor in. Hey josh, how about taking all the necessary parts off to do a speed6 wagon?I may be wrong but, couldn't a person just get a regular MZ3 engine and swap all the turbo shizzle over and be done with it? Seems easy enough and not overly expensive. Do it Josh, flip that biotch.

Dam you lockness monster you leave me the hell alone. Lol. One of the best episodes.Shoot, a good motor for a Protege is like tree fitty.
A little JB Weld and Bondo and that'll buff right out.

Wes made it seem like OMGHOLEINBLOCKKILLITWITHFIRERUNAWAY, when I think it's a steal!
My biggest question is how much other internal damage was done to the engine. You'd wanna figure on doing rods and pistons as well.
