The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

do we have to have a cat converter in ohio? does it matter which one of the two we keep?

I just checked. Medina does, but they're talking about maybe dropping it.

Nice! I hope they drop it...
You only need one of the two cats though right? Which one, does it matter?

The one in the header is just a pre-cat. The one in the midpipe is the one that matters.

The MSP does not have a cat and it passed the E check in Cuyahoga with out any issues whatsoever.

Portage did a visual check. I wouldn't have passed with the P5 if I would have put the MAM catless mid-pipe on it. I know damn well the MSM wouldn't pass.

Ugh. It's killing me waiting till June to get my car e-checked so I can put said catless midpipe on my P5.

i couldn't find anywhere that it said Wayne county has to do e-check...i this true?

there's mostly Amish anyway, how much can their buggies pollute, i mean really?!

so which is okay to purchase catless for us ohioans: a catless downpipe or a catless midpipe/testpipe? or both?

sorry for all the questions, i just am really curious.... wayne county doesn't appear to be on the list, which makes it a shame that i live less than 5 minutes out of wayne county..

according to this website, a visual inspection will check for 'a' (note:singular) catalytic converter...If I still have one the stock race pipe/test pipe/midpipe/thingy after the downpipe that contains a cat, does that mean i can get a catless downpipe? those are much cheaper!

again sorry for the ramblings, but i keep finding information that only leads to more questions!

Dude, just go get the car e-checked now. As long as you have the paper work for the testing being done in 2010, you should be good to go.

Wayne county has no e-check

What I'd honestly do is to get a header without a cat, and get a good midpipe with a nice high-flow cat. My reasoning for this is that in Ohio, you're likely to get rusty bolts in the exhaust. If you have no cat and have to get e-checked, you're likely to have to swap parts back and forth. Well... with rusted bolts, that means you may have to cut them off and replace them each time. It could be a hassle.

That being said, 2 of my cars have no cats at all. They're registered in Trumbull county. Heh.
