The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

actually, pa wasnt nearly as bad.... just the stupid trucks passing on 2 lanes uphill were annoying.

i was passed by a 1st gen insight. i was going 80. i guess he doesnt care about mileage that much.

i got the best mileage in PA. 30.5mpg. (even through the hills) do they not use ethanol there? cause i was getting 27.5 through the flat part of ohio.

Hey Rockin', I think you are mistaken. That was PA you were going thru. lol

PA is ALOT and i do mean ALOT better and passing left and keeping right than ohio...

hm... i dunno i know most places in PA use "up to 10% ethanol" maybe you hit one of those lucky stations thats closer to 3-5% ethanol than 10% haha
ive hit those from time to time also found i seem to get the best mileage (im talking 2-3mpg average per tank better) on Sheetz gas, you didnt happen to fill up at a sheetz did you? haha

lol....I'm alwasy getting passed by Prius' in Jersey. And yes those trucks are very annoying on 2 lane highways.

Thanks for the tip....since I'm on the other end of the state, I'm not that familiar with Ohians and their annoying driving habits. lol

Good to know about Sheetz too....have never filled up at one, probably since the closest one is a good 15 minutes from my house in the opposite direction of my commute.

nope, no sheetz for me....only the baby

fixed for ya

State law.

This used to infuriate me to not end when I had to drive through rush hour traffic for an hour on the way to and from work every day. Now the only problem I have is the occasional person who hasn't realized that the speed limit is 70mph on the turnpike now...

PA is ALOT and i do mean ALOT better and passing left and keeping right than ohio...

I've never done much driven in PA if this is the case I feel bad for you. I thought Ohio was renown for having slow fast lane drivers.

BTW, made it back from Mid-Ohio with the car in a similar state than when it arrived there minus some brake pad material and rubber. Set my new personal best lap at 1:58.91. Only about 10 or so more seconds to go before I'm in Spec Miata territory :D

Thanks man! I'm keeping it a bit quiet until I'm in the driver's seat and home with it but when that happens, I'll let everyone know :D

I think I know which car as well! Good luck man!

EDIT: I get to pretend I'm a photographer tomorrow at Mid-Ohio for a motorcycle track day! My friend has been getting serious about moto racing--just obtained his comp license last week at Nelson Ledges. Should be fun snapping pics of motorcycles flying through MidO instead of cars for once.

That is extremely awesome.

I posted it a couple months ago, but it always nice to watch it over... and over again :)

On a bad note I was pulled over yesterday coming back from a carshow in Sylvania. She said I had multiple violations including window tint, rear lisence plate cover, no front lisence plate, and too loud of exhaust. I was cited for my window tint being to dark in the rear. I was thinking WTF? I thought in the rear it could be as dark as you wanted and under Ohio law it can, but under some little town ordinance it can only be 50% in all windows and none in front except a 5in top strip. I asked about the exhaust and she said she thought it was a little loud (I was going 25 mph in third gear at about 2,000rpm's) Which is not loud at all. I talked to a lawyer and he said either to remove the tint, get it legal, and get the fine wavied or pay the fine and don't drive through the city of Sylvania again. I think I'm taking option B and just thinking of it as a luxury fee for having a sweet car. First time I have been pulled over in the 4 years I've owned the car besides a verbal warning for no front plate when visiting a friend in Kent. FTP lol, well not all of them. I have 4 family members that are officers.

Hmm... That pretty much sucks. If the window tint ordinance is only for Sylvania how can they cite you for it if you don't live there? I would have to avoid Sylvania altogether with my 35% window tint or else I can get a ticket? Seems kinda crazy.

I also don't have a front license plate and smoke rear license plate cover :D

On that topic, myself and a handful of other drivers passed a lady this morning on a three lane highway. She was cruising at 65mph (in a 65mph zone) in the fast lane in a brand new Insight! If you are going to buy a hybrid and hyper mile do it in the effin slow lane!!!!

Unfortunately, I know a LOT of people with the mindset if they are at the speed limit then they ride the left lane. No matter how many people pass them on the right or flash lights. They feel if they are doing the speed limit, they are ok to be in the left lane.

Now, I'm an advocate of obeying speed laws but I also know to move the **** over for traffic. (See my FB post about the douche in PA that wrecked and I probably saved his life.) Then there is also speed of traffic and following the general flow which if I don't feel comfy, I move to the right lane.

that might have already been posted here, or maybe im just thinking it was since i saw it a while ago haha

either way, im not very proud of the representation of Mazda, that guy might know his s*** but he was an arrogant douchebag about it....

Joe might come off as an arrogant ass, but the dude can drive and knows his stuff.

the ones i LOVE the most are the one that flash their lights at you when your doing 10-15 over... they really piss me off

This pic Evan #2 snapped of me pretty much sums up my feelings of slow drivers in the left lane...

SECOND THAT!!!
I passed at least 10 cars that were in the left lane last night @ 11pm on the way home from work. F**king A** H**es!!!! I usually drive 8-10 mph over the speed limit can't people just GTFO. Ok now I feel better. that is all!!(hi)

BTW my right rear shock went on the speed3 sat or sun I had a puddle of oil under it. I need new shocks any recomondations for stock replacements? I don't want coilovers or adjustable shocks. I don't race or auto-x the car it only my daily driver with no mods.

If you were with the flow of traffic, I can understand. If you were just by yourself on solo road.... Not so much.

Check the FS section or put a post that you need some stock suspension pieces. Most people are willing to dump them for cheap, but you may have to buy the complete set...

Maybe look up Mazmart down here in GA for parts... They tend to have better prices for stock parts (if in stock) and I know some people who can help.
