The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Gauges... a good sign of modification. Not many people add many gauges just for their own observation.
The wheels that have a good bit of offset... That would scare me.

A modded MSP is a car that EVERYONE should avoid.

Just depends on how much money they want to dump into the car and how much they are asking for it? It could be a good deal, won't knoe until you drive it. I bought my car slightly modded and had a salvaged title and the only thing I have to replace on her was a powersteering pump and the rear lateral arms were bent front the wreck it was in with the previous owner. Other than that 4 years later it just needs a better paint job. They didn't prep the car good at all before painting it. Then I had to of course dump some extra money into her for fun. Only about $3,500 for track purposes :) Love the MSP.

You might just need to look it over really good and see if you can drive it (I'm mean really drive it on the highway and see what comes up). It might needa whole rebuild and a lot of work or it might just need a little TLC. Just the price you pay for buying any used car. I bought a used car in high school with low miles for a decent price. It ran great for about 5 months then everything went wrong with it. It can be like playing the lottery when buying a used car. It can be really good or really bad.

I think we can all agree not to buy a pre-modded car, no matter what it is. You don't know the history of who installed the parts, how hard it was driven, and then the usual used car things like maintenance and such. I'd buy a stock MSP and mod it myself. Or a stock anything, then mod it myself. Just my $0.02 though.

for all we know its stock with wheels, stickers, and gauges, theres no way of telling whats under the hood cause there are no pics of it

i know guys that have bought modded cars and not had an issue with them at all... its hit or miss, and to me modding has only a small part to do with it... , your logic would discourage even buying used cars all together cause you have no idea if the car was previously modded then returned to stock when they traded it in etc etc

well worry no more, went to the dealership and it was already sold. A mechanic from the Subaru/Mazda division bought it. I asked the salesman if he know what it sold for, he couldn't remember but knew the asking prcie was $10,900. He got pissed off when I laughed and asked really!? while still laughing. He tried to justify it by telling me it was modded but I told him there's no way it has $5K worth of mods. He didn't like me very much.

I realize it might have $5k in mods but not to make the price that high.

Yeah, definitely a gamble. I got a helluva deal on the MSM with all the mods done to that, and the car has been an off and on headache for me. I'd be nervous about an MSP. Granted, it's an easy car to work on, and damn near everything aside from the turbo is the same as a regular ES sedan (generally speaking, of course) so parts are available. All depends on how much they'd be willing to risk and deal with.

Now to redo my sig with the crappy taped paper and upgrade to the magnets I cut out.

Thanks for going to check it out Nate, I'm willing to bet that that MSP is in better hands now than it was previously. Over 10k asking price? That is just unreal. I'm glad I bought mine stock, I assume I'm having much less problems than those who have blazed the way buying previously modded MSP's.

It could be legit... could be. At 12 psi you could pull close to 250 wheel on a dynojet.

No problem, wasn't far away at all.

It used to belong to a member on here, not sure if he's still the owner. dsm something, also has a rx-8 and an msp.

The wisdom teeth have been pulled! As much as it hurts and sucks for a couple days, I'm just glad it is done and over with and that I never have to mess with them again. They were starting to put pressure on my head, so it actually feels a little better now that they are out! Still, I am a bit out of it and have the next two days to recover!
