The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

ive had no issues with my Gislaved NordFrost tires (exact same thing as the General Altimax Arctic tires) car is a tank in the snow, ive had issues where im plowing the roads but never with traction... i have a big hill to go up to get to work (had to stop, watch other cars slip and slide, then start again and go around them) and a big hill to get to my house and never a problem with either

I think it's my size. There aren't many options that I've come across. The Blizzaks were actually the cheapest.

I'm selling my dad's Land Rover wheels/tires for $400. ;)

15" steelies painted matte black and Blizzak DM-Z3 with tons of tread left. I believe they are 205/75-15. They probably won't clear anyone brake calipers but I figured I'd throw it out there...

The tread on my tires are currently fading away. While driving in the rain last week or so, I felt the rear end break loose while turning on a freeway merging ramp. Granted driving home with snow covered roads last night I didn't have any issues but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Since I need tires anyway I figured I'd get a snow set for these wheels, and I'm planning on getting another set of wheels for the summer, so getting different tires for those.

Those don't compensate for ice like the snow tires do though.. right? The ziggy grooves in the treads compensate for ice I believe. I could be a reh tard though.

all terrains or mud terrains on a 4x4 = no winter issues with traction (unless your a rah-tard and cant drive in the snow)

you got a jeep, theres no need for snow tires IMO

that being said, if you feel the need to get snow treads go right ahead, just be prepared for some good ribbing about it :P

As I said the Blizzaks are the cheapest tires I've found for the Jeep. Not even the stock tires cost less. So right now for the Jeep the cheapest tire option currently is a snow tire.

Also, mudding tires or other aggressive tires are the more expensive choices.

go for it man... if you need new tires, and they are the cheapest tires right now thats cool, im not telling you what to do or how to spend your money or even what tires to buy, just expect some good natured ribbing for buying the jeep snow tires :P (only cause its funny)

Trust me, the summer setup I'm looking at is way more aggressive. However I will not have the money for it until then. Right now I need to go the cheap route just to get by. I also need to do 50k maintenance on the drive train which is not gonna be cheap either.

like i said, if snow treads are the cheapest route do it, just know im gonna give you a little bit of hard time for it :P simply cause its funny to know a jeep owner bought snow tires hahah

Once I get them I'll show you the tread pattern.. indented onto the hood of your car as I roll over it. (drive)

15" should easily clear P5/MP3/ES calipers/rotors depending on backspacing...

LOL at the 205/75's on a Protege....maybe the field break edition would have clearance? lol

Jason...do the snow tire thang....pocket the extra cash and lift that biotch 10" in the spring.

Oh I have plans. I have wheels picked out, I know the lift height I'm gonna go. Just with moving and all I currently am tapped out. I did just find an AT tire cheaper so I'm going that route.
