The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

im tweaking your game a little cause my DD/Tow vehicle can be one in the same lol

Tow/Daily - Porsche Cayenne Diesel
Track - Ariel Atom V8
Daily/Toy #2 - Scoobie STi for the days i want to hoon a little on the street lol

I really like this answer. Excellent choices all around!

And if we are getting crazy with fantasy land... this is the ultimate car hauler setup:

Not everyone has answered, but I have noticed one thing so far...Miata is not the answer

I agree Will. Toterhomes kick much ass. Maybe I could get a slide in camper for the bed of my big ass International? The problem with that is I can't have that 45 foot long fifth wheel trailer. Dammit I want another shot at this! I'll just wait for the next fantasy day. LOL

Haha!

Damnit! It took me forever to find that picture, I didn't know they were called toterhomes. Haha.

Me too, Completely forgot about the Bus from Top Gear that came the roadster underneath. That would count as 1 right?

My cop sister is in town and I showed her my auto-x video and she said I would've been disqualified in my driving test because they teach cops to shuffles their hands at 5 and 7 on the steering wheel. How stupid is that? That seems so uncomfortable and awkward, I don't see the advantage of driving with your hands on the bottom of the steering wheel.
I was never told 5 & 7, but shuffling is proper as it keeps your arms from crossing in tight situations which allows you to better control the vehicle.

Thoughts on Ford switching to a 3.5L Twin Turbo V6 in their DP cars next year?

Pretty sure it's the same engine in the Explorer, Flex and SHO Taurus. Wonder how close to the stock engine it will be like Mazda's 2.2 Diesels. Also wond if they'll make a must Mustang with this engine. Might be a hard sell to the V8 die hards but could be slotted inbetween an N/A V6 & V8 maybe.
The 3.5 in the DP car is a production based engine. The 3.5 will be fazed out over time and will not go into the Mustang. Instead the Mustang will likely get a mid 300hp 2.3L Ecoboost 4cyl.

Ecoboost v6 out powers the 5.0L, plus can be tuned to hell. I do know the SHO will blow at approximately 35psi, so 25 psi should make the car pretty fun.
The EB only out powers the 5.0 in the trucks where the 5.0 is extremely detuned.

Does it out power straight from the factory? I thought it was around 345hp for the EcoBoost (still very impressive to me) and the V8 had more. I might be thinking of a shelby or something though for V8 horsepower #s

Probably would never happen, but a AWD 3.5L Twin Turbo Focus RS? Might be a little fatty though
If they do a Focus RS it will likely have the 2.3L Ecoboost. The smallest vehicle to get the 3.5 EB will be the SHO. The 3.5L EB is being replaced by a 2.7 and a 3.0 EB. It will stick around but the 3.5 production placement will be shrunk down quite a bit. The good news is that it should finally find its way into the Expedition for 2015/2016.

5 and 7 because of the airbag. when it deploys, you will still have control of the wheel. If you have your hands at 10 and 2, the airbag will blow your hands off the wheel.

I was always told 9 and 3 for cars with airbags?

yeah, that would prolly work too. just so your arms are away from the airbag.
No matter where your arms are at, when the airbag deploys you're going to be in some pain.
On the F150:

3.5 Ecoboost: 365hp @ 5000, 420tq @ 2500
5.0L V8: 360ho @ 5500, 380tq @ 4250

right from ford's website

Plus better fuel economy, the ecoboost is the clear choice.
For the pickup... the 3.5EB vs. the mustang 5.0, the 5.0 outpowers it quite easily until you tune the EB.

For the F150 the Ecoboost wins, in a hypathetical for the Mustang...

On the Mustang the 5.0L has 420hp & 390tq. http://www.ford.com/cars/mustang/specifications/
Taurus SHO 3.5L Ecoboost has 365hp & 358tq http://www.ford.com/cars/taurus/specifications/engine/

V8 is 1 mpg better

I'm not saying the V8 is better. It was more of would the old die hard V8 foogies go for a twin turbo V6?
The next gen supposedly goes.

3.7L V6
2.3L Ecoboost 4cyl.
5.0L Coyote V8

The Coyote will get increased power & torque from what I'm hearing.
comparing a forced induction motor to a naturally aspirated motor is like comparing a vacuum to an asthmatic kid trying to suck up skittles with a straw...

i dont care if the ecoboost makes 5 extra horses or has better torque down low. its also like a 2500 dollar add on and for that, its easy to understand why people would choose the 5.0.... speaking for the f150's
Actually, most choose the Ecoboost. Typically the Ecoboost is either a $1095 or $2095 option (MSRP) depending on trim level. Then again, if you modify/customize your truck which over 50% of truck owners do. The 3.5EB is the clear winner with better MPG and the ability to flash a tune and gain up to 90+hp from that alone. One of my buddies took his over to Pittsburgh and averaged 26mpg (hand calculated) on the way home doing about 70mph the whole way. Not bad for a full size truck with a younger guy driving (he just turned 21).

I'm seeing 305 HP for the v6 Mustang and 420 HP for the Mustang GT.
365 would fit right in the middle of those 2.
The 2.3EB should be in the mid 300hp range as well while the 5.0 V8 gains some power & torque.

This is way to confusing, I'm going to go buy a Tundra. They're better anyways. ;)
Tundras are junk. They're outclassed in about every way by the domestics and come in 3rd or 4th at best in every comparisson. Add to that the typical toyota sludge and frame issues... no thanks.

i was just being difficult for the sake of being difficult... i enjoy trying to get under nicks skin from time to time LOL

I know! But I don't think it follows the "spirit" of the game. Haha. At least that's not how I saw it.

yeah agreed, although i think it could/would be a fair count for the tow rig. i mean this is a fantasy game so why not go buckwild with it LOL

Not everyone has answered, but I have noticed one thing so far...Miata is not the answer

why would you play a game where money is no object and still buy a car the majority of us could buy today for pretty cheaply haha

Somewhat realistic answer for me, lol.

Tow= 06-07 F350 with the 6.0 Powerstroke
Race= 95 Mustang w/ Coyote v8 and a couple of turbos
DD= MS3 for now, lol.

Just need to finish the Mustang & buy the truck.
