The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

are the rules easily found on scca's website?

They're not too hard to find. I'd help you but SCCA is blocked at work.

M. No portion of the splitter may extend beyond the widest part
of the front bumper/fascia as viewed from above.

I think this knocks me out of sm, it's a little, not by much but a little wider than my bumper

Yeah, but when it comes to local events, unless you're questionably dominating, no one will really give a damn. Plus... you just have a lip, not a full out front splitter.

Not enough negative rear camber, not tuckin tire, NOT SLAMMED = GTFO

(sorry, I had to)

that is true, i doubt i'll dominate with my only power addition being a CAI and exhaust

omg you guys have been busy posting today...i just read this thread this morning and i had to just read like 4 pages since i left around 1030!!! normally this thread is boring :)

i've almost got my garage clean enough to work on my car again! just need someone to ake all the stuff out of the front yard so i don't have to put it back in the garage

So no one really knows if streetporting is allowed in SP???

LOL I was talking to my wife about getting more into racing. The first thing she asks if there's money involved. I told her sure, I have to buy parts somehow :)

and pay for the races...and replace stuff after every race...and buy food at/for the races...and buy race clothing....and on and on and on....

i'm dating someone that wants to do more racing and i see the money that's required...plus we want to get our daughter into karting in a few years!! so there's even more money :)

Hell Jon, I don't even know what streetporting is. Haha!

Your wife has to be pretty cool since she owns a Protege. Too bad she gets car sick...

I was telling my lady friend about these racing seats I want, kinda judging by her reaction how she would feel about me sinking more money into my silly car and she said "Racing seats? Cool. So when you drive like an asshole I won't slide all over?". She's cool.

What seats are you thinking about getting? They've been on my mind lately as well. Wheels will come first, tho.

i'm with Evan, not sure what streetporting is. if it's internal stuff how would they know unless they force you to take your car apart because you're winning too much. Like my comment about my lip.

haha...that's great...we really need racing seats in our car...but we are trying to convince our friend to strip his speed interior so we can get his bolstered seats :)

LOL, you guys...

Porting a rotary is roughly equivalent to swapping cams in a piston engine (changing intakeexhaust timing, opening, etc.). Streetporting is the "mild cam swap" for rotaries. I'm thinking any kind of porting isn't allowed in SP because it says swapping cams isn't allowed. The odd thing is they only mention bridge/peripheral porting (more aggressive porting) for the prepared classes.

I'm leading more towards sticking with NASA because I'd rather drive around a track than cones. I'd be perfectly happy with HPDE really because Mid-Ohio is about the only close track. You don't win anything in HPDE but it still costs money though - this is why the wife doesn't like it. I was looking at the NASA TT classes and it looks like I'd be somewhere in the TTD/TTC classes if I did everything I wanted. Probably wouldn't be competitive at all because I really don't want to turn this thing into a race-only car...
