The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

You've been dropping an awful lot of money lately, man. Business must be good dealing crack with Sho.

Score! lol. But I can't get my hopes up because if they don't come down some then I have to walk away. Its been up for a while now and I think the outside condition is scaring people away. But I had money set aside for a beater then wanted a miata then #1 talked me out of it and I test drove a $1500 s*** focus and hated every minute of it. So I'm back and stuck on the miata's. And I don't have the patience for wraps lol.

Ah, that's primer you're seeing. That's common. The 90 had that problem (white) and I'm pretty sure my 91 (white) did also because there isn't really a good explanation for a car with 95k to need a full repaint, lol. It was painted before I got it.

Edit: it wasn't just a Mazda thing. Yay water based paint!

I think a beater Miata is a great idea. They're pretty darn reliable and with snow tires not horrible in the winter. They aren't remotely practical though.

Miatas are overpriced compared to their KBB/Edmunds values and compared to other cars because they are genuinely in demand.

If I was going to buy a Miata (and had no plans of driving it in the winter), I'd find one with relatively low mileage in a southern state and ship it up here.

BTW, a Miata under $1000 that runs is a crazy good deal even if it has a little rust.

I talked you out of a Miata? If I did, I wasn't meaning to. They just aren't for me, that's all. RWD, cheap, tons of aftermarket support, etc. I just feel cramped in them. But then again, look at the car I drive now. Probably the fattest Mazda ever built. haha

None of my advice should be taken seriously. I have no idea what I'm doing.

We do have an agreement though, I got Kent (other than freshman orientation) Sho has Akron. But I doubt it will be driven in the winter. Will be more of a fun car that I can autocross. Just to lessen the miles /work load on the speed. But I have been looking at parts and while there is a large market the parts don't seem to bad.
#1 you just kinda said that I will want to mod both cars... your right I just chose to ignore you after my miserable test drive lol.
But I'm not a big guy and I think I should be fine. I got the check list from the link Jon posted and I'm going to contact the people with the miata I'm interested in. Hope its still available and I can take a look and report back with good news and pictures.

True, the mor territory we can cover...the better.

Good luck with the miata. Hope it works out!

Edit:

Levi, those cx9's are for sure boats. But pretty sharp for a giant SUV

Miatas are definitely fun, and contrary to what anyone tells you, they are sometimes even more fun with out a butt ton of power. You really can't get into much trouble with a stock one. Add boost... anything you do puts you in the eye of Johnny Law in very little time. Any time I have even the slightest amount of fun on the street I'm looking over my shoulder.

But so help me God, if you put coils on it and slam it to the ground, I'm going to come find you, smack you with a dildo (all Miata owners have one... it goes with the "Agenda") and probably take the car away from you. ;)

^ truth. While I love my car and had a blast on Sunday, Marc's car felt better (that's why I really want to co-drive Will's car). Also, Paul was 0.644 seconds faster than me on Sunday, with a passenger and old non sticky tires. All he has is a FSB and Koni shocks, stock springs.

Hence why I'd like to put an Exocet kit on an na NB miata

Oh, I'll also smack you with my dildo. Then proceed to use your car on my Exocet project

no no no I would smack myself. The car won't have much. some suspension only to make it better handing wise, wider wheels and tires intake and exhaust but nothing crazy. I want it to be a fun and comfortable cruiser for nice days too.

Lord have mercy children! I should have waited until later to sign-in again and maybe I would have been warned to not read posts 32844-32848.

that Exocet car looks bad ass. But I want to be able to drive my car whenever and not only on nice days. And it is expensive lol. I guess not for all that you get but damn its only a 1500 dollar car lol

Don't waste your money on an intake. Header back exhaust will net you a couple HP if you get a good one.
