The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Don't go with wrap. While it helps keeps temperature in the exhaust it definitely reduces the life of the part. You're better off with a high-temperature coating.

I wrapped my Spooled^ header for my silver P5 with DEI wrap from Summit. It's still wrapped and holding up well, right Larry? It went from my P5 to Josh's to Larry's.

I wrapped the headers on the silver P5 KL with DEI and painted them with the hightemp silicone paint and they still look good.

I wrapped something for someone else local too, Kevin's header maybe?

I only used DEI for the times I wrapped stuff so I can't comment on the eBay stuff. I soak the whole wrap in a bucket of water, then wring it out then go to town wrapping whatever parts you need. I've never had a problem with any of my wrapped parts. But again, I was wrapping decent quality header(s). No thin walled eBay stuff.

Jake has his intercooler piping wrapped too, any reports of damage, Pringles?

Hey, just pay bi-weekly, it will help shorten the term of the loan and reduce the amount of interest paid too.

the only issue is having all the money to pay it off. i only work this job for 14 weeks and i will make like 8500 from the job. im gonna try and see if i can get an extension on my internship and work here part time in the fall too so i can keep enough money up to pay for it.

This Sunday is the first Superfly Sunday event for any interested parties.

I used the DEI kit with my old DNP exhaust manifold which held up well. I just have some ebay stuff on my intercooler pipes right now that helps out quite a bit. Make sure you get the 2" wide stuff. Good choice with the Ebay CX racing kit. I would suggest the treadstone tr8/tr8l for a newer core.

It's a well-known fact in the materials world that heat retention hastens corrosion and, in higher-temperature situations, oxidation. In the RX-7 community exhaust wrap is highly discouraged due to our higher exhaust temperatures. Just saying, it may not have caused a problem yet but in the long run it will reduce the life of the part.

Well i think Evan was planning on using it for his intercooler piping anyway. Maybe since the rotory exhaust gases are so much higher people don't wrap their exhaust? It doesn't seem to be an issue for hot rod guys, they'bee been using it for decades. Haha
