Is it true that if you born in the philippines you love it and if you were born in America you hate it?? idk, that's what my grandma always told me.

I was born in the Philippines and loved it. I think it's because that's were I spent the majority of my formative years. I was used to "showering" using cold-water from a bucket, walking around in flip-flops, and just not having much in general with regards to luxuries. So life was simple.

I think American born filipinos are "spoiled" with some of the luxuries of American life. Even simple luxuries like running water. So it's hard for them to adjust to a lifestyle that isn't everything they are used to stateside. I don't think U.S born filipinos can fully appreciate where it is they come from for this reason. I guess I can understand that sentiment to some degree.

I too was born in the Philippines however we did have running water... however... Not really sure what your mean by "I don't think U.S born filipinos can fully appreciate where it is they come from for this reason"... Fact is, they came from the U.S.

Bottom line... There is the Filipino culture, the American culture and the Filipino-American culture and none is better than the other... In my own opinion, a good person is a good person no matter what culture... the same goes with the bad!!!

I'm not knocking anyone by any means.

What I mean is that unless you experience life in the phillipines, and are used to it, you may not like it. When I say "I don't think U.S born filipinos can fully appreciate where it is they come from..." I say this figuratively, not literally.

Almost time to go home. Chicken adobo time!

LOL!

What about a stick broom? Coconut hutch to polish the floor? My favorite is the plastic runners on the carpet...all my relatives still do that!

Actually, if you have any family members named "Boy" then you can consider yourself a true filipino/filipina.
