why are you running wider wheels in the back? and why is it staggered if youre running the same tire size
 
i run on a road course and my plan was to get 235s all around. i found this set of wheels used(they've been out of production for at least a few years), they weigh 18lbs each and the rest of the specs were just right. there is a slight stretch in the rear and a vertical sidewall in front. the fit is absolutely perfect and i think they look great. also just looks funny to me having a wider wheel in the front on a staggered setup.

idk if you can see well, but these are the stock protege wheels with some 225 50 16s up front and 205 55 16 rear.

sure, but your wheels are the same. i didn't want to run a wider wheel that pokes more in front than the rear. seems more important in auto-x to have more rubber up front[drive wheel] for maximum traction under hard acceleration in lower gears. a road course is much higher speed and i have zero wheel spin with 235s.

No, there was actually a point to the size differential.

The purpose of a wider front would be to increase turning at high speed, which ANYONE regardless of drivetrain configuration, power level, or religious beliefs can benefit from. In the case of a FWD it would allow you to come into the corner faster, and get into the throttle sooner without leaving the friction circle of the tire and understeering.

It looks funny for a FWD to have wider wheels in the rear. I would point and laugh lol

You're not suppose to get wheel spin on a road course, even when you're gunning it out of the corners unless you're coming out of a hairpin, you're doing it wrong if you do unless you got like 300+whp on the front wheels. 9" don't poke with that offset. There are plenty of FWDs running wider front wheels/tires than rear. Just because it's higher speed, don't mean you don't need the rotation by putting wider wheels/tires up front. You're a ricer, admit it. You obviously is since you say "it looks funny with wider wheels up front".

Oh, I've ran on track all over NorCal. I know for sure wider rear wheels would make the car pushing like a mofo at higher speed.

wow, where to begin with this response? can't tell if you are being an arrogant asshole or just poking fun. if you can see the photo above, the face of the rear wheels extend just beyond the fender. this is what i refer to as "poke." you say i shouldn't get wheel spin on the track unless i don't know how to drive but then say i still need wider wheels/tires up front. i guess that's what "don't mean you don't need the rotation" means...? all grammar and spelling aside, how can a one inch wider wheel in the rear with the same tire as the front "make the car pushing?"

as far as the look of having a wider wheel/tire in the front vs. rear... it's obviously very subjective. not sure how that makes me a ricer. outside of that, i have a well fitting and fully functional setup that should be great for the track.
 
I don't think I am an expert but I will off my 2 cents though. As far as form and function goes, in my mind you are missing the total package. The staggererd wheels have put the wheels in perfect position as far as looks go. However the wider trackwidth in the rear will cause more understeer. Occasional track day for a daily driver you got the hot set up. Upgraded rear sway bar should help to overcome some of the understeer. I like it!

the tires the same front and back though...so it really shouldnt have any effect on the handling. If he was running a wider wheel and wider tire in the back, then yes that would be dumb

yes, tires are the same all around. i basically doing the opposite of what AJ and wagon did. they have staggered tires with non-staggered wheels, i have staggered wheels with non-staggered tires.

bought them with 5000ish. drove on them for about 2000ish :|

ouch. i had about 9,000 miles on my BCs when the tab broke... not great.
