Travis Pastrana sets record for Mt. Washington hillclimb - YouTube

For those of you who need a place to stay overnight:

I have personally stayed in and can vouch for:

North Conway Hotels | North Conway Grand Hotel | NH
Can be a bit pricey, but keep an eye on their site as they often run specials. Excellent place to stay though. Have stayed 3 or 4 times and it has been top notch every time.

Green Granite Inn, a North Conway Hotel
Stayed here once when the above hotel was full. Not bad, but not as nice as ^^^. Perfectly acceptable accommodations, just not as nice.

The Seasons Condominium Resort - Affordable Family Resort in Mt.Washington Valley
This is condo resort and could be an unbeatable value if some want to travel as a group. They are all individually owned so your mileage may vary, but the unit we stayed in was great except for the limited supply of hot water. (If you don't take 3 showers back-to-back it was fine.) The clubhouse/gameroom/indoor pool area is a bit dated but everything was functional when we went last December. Rates of 130/night for a 2-bedroom becomes very easy to swallow when you start dividing it up. And you get the option of bringing your own food if you don't want to eat out. It's north of North Conway, but actually puts you a bit closer to the Auto Road (23 vs. 34 minutes according to GoogleMaps)

North Conway is THE place to kill time in the off hours as there's lots of restaurants, shopping, and other activities. It's not too far from the base of the Auto Road and the drive between the two is nice. Someone mentioned Mount Washington Cog Railway - Climb to the Top of Mount Washington on the world's first mountain-climbing Cog Railway trains! and I will just chime in with this: EXPENSIVE! Priced to match the steep grade of the Jacob's ladder trestle (300' long at a grade of 37.41%) at $62 per adult. Don't get me wrong it's a good once-in-a-lifetime trip, but it is on the other side of the mountain from where most will be staying (55 minutes) and I didn't want to have someone drive all that way only to have a coronary due to sticker shock. :D

The auto road is a really sweet drive. Let's just pray for clear skies (the summit is in the clouds 60% of the time) and light winds (hurricane force winds occur roughly 33% of the time).

OP Updated.

Flag orders will be held off until we have a large number of orders. The only store that I found with more than 10 in stock doesn't have any cheaper shipping than $20. So I'm going to hold off on orders until later. Payments are still being accepted and I will continue updating the OP as new registrations come in and new information is gathered.

OP Updated.

Bump for anyone else who might be interested. We still have PLENTY of time, but the sooner we hit over 30, the sooner we can set a date for this to happen :)

OP Updated. Registrants added, flag orders updated.

C'mon, no one else wants to come join us? We need more than a bunch of Mazda 6's :)

Important, please read everyone.

Alright this thread hasn't been updated in a while.

  • It's getting closer and closer to the date everyone. I've just posted this on the OP:

**Because we have placed our deposit already, those who have paid will have until February 1st to cancel or you will NOT be getting the rest of your money back. All money spent towards the deposit is final, but if you paid, or are paying, before arriving at the base on June 8th, then you have until February 1st to request a refund. Thank you.**

Those of you whom have not paid, you need not worry until the day of the climb. You don't have your money on that day, you don't ride. Period, end of story. As for the people who have IOUs, same goes for you. Pay or go home the day of the climb.

  • I have been in contact with MazdaUSA. Once they send me the request forms (they promised that I would have them by the end of this month), I will be able to request that "Zoom Zoom" Box, as well as some financial support for the climb.

I have no idea how much "support" they'll give us, but even a few $ will make all your trips a little better amiright?

  • There has been some confusion/questions/concerns about our behavior while at this meet. Let me clear up a few things for those of you who are concerned about maintaining such a large group of drivers.

Asshattery will NOT be tolerated. Driving dangerously/carelessly will NOT be tolerated. Excessive speeding or racing will NOT be tolerated. Anything related to the aforementioned will result in 1 warning. If this warning is not heeded, the next incident will give you the pleasure of driving home and subsequently NOT climbing the mountain.

We are all planning on showing up at the mountain's base at a time to be disclosed. I'm sure there will be plenty of drivers meeting with each other along the way. This is fine, but no one will be responsible for your careless actions if you get caught.

Please if anyone has any more questions let me know and I will answer them to the best of my ability. Thank you.

I'm 99% sure I'm going. I can get you money beforehand (PayPal) or just pay at the gate. Either way. If the weather is nice I'll bring the REPU, otherwise the MS6 will have to do.

^^ Chris, yeah thanks for signing up man. Pretty sure we got all the details ironed out on 6Club. If not, you know where to find me.

OP Updated: Bump it's getting closer to the date now everyone!
