The First Win for Mazda!

"Paul Bonaccorsi drove the Tri-Point Mazdaspeed entry to both his and the Protg's first World Challenge victory. Bonaccorsi made it the finish line only 0.384 of a second ahead of the second place finisher, Pierre Kleinubing in the RealTime Acura Integra Type R."

Maybe now the aftermarket will kick in and make more parts for our cars.

The MP3 went against the big boys and won!

I watched this race last night on the speed channel....it was great. all three of tri-points pros finished....I was sorry to see roger foo hit the dirt on the first turn though....and didn't get back on the track till 5 laps later....but once he did....he charged hard. I was good to see the acrua's get their butts handed to them.

At one point there were three Pro's side by side...Roger Foo was in the mix with one of the Tri-Point cars and the AWR Racing car I believe. It was GREAT!

It was also GREAT! to watch Bonaccorsi Win! I couldn't hardly believe it.

Big Congrats to Paul and the Tri-Point Team! As well as all of the Pro's for some Fantastic Action!

BTW...I think my sig was an inspiration :D I just changed it like a week ago.

Missed out

I got home too late and missed out on the Touring Car class shown on Speed channel, but I was able to watch some of the GT car class.

When they broadcast the next race on tv, could someone post the schedule ahead of time for the rest of us? I tried looking at the SCCA website and Speedvision website, but got confused and lost between the schedule and the tv broadcasting.

Thanks!

It's a real battle on the track...It was difficult to even notice the "other" cars with all the protg action...I look forward to more ass-kicking by Mazda.

i saw the race too...great to see the Mazda do well...

a question though, are these cars stock MP3s??? how is it possible that they can keep ahead of the Type-Rs? those things have much more power and handle excellent...is the MP3 modded i.e. Mazdaspeed version?

if it's the regular MP3, than i give it full respect...

Roger Foos' Protege5

It was Yellow but they decided it would look better green and black. (what the hell were they thinking?)

I'm telling you, I've followed the World Touring Challenge for about 3 years now and those Type-Rs are always in front. It's nice to see those MP3s pulling harder than the Rs. It was kind of funny at one point, Cunningham (Realtime Type R) was bumping Kleinubing (Realtime Type-R) so it could catch up with the Mazda....He He He...

ggweci No they are not stock MP3s. If you go to the World Challenge website (http://www.speedvisionwc.com) you'll find out they have 200+HP No Turbo or Nitrous is allowed. Whats funny is that the Real Time Acuras boast they have 250hp but we all know that could be :bs: .

Here are the Before and After Pictures of Roger Foos Protege5

i don't know, i kind of like foo's new color sceme. makes it look more agressive.

Considering that Foo had an off-track excursion and was five laps down after that, finishing 34th wasn't that bad!

No doubt!

About the "Foo-mobile"...
I agree that Yellow Is a better color for Foo's ride!
Makes it "look" more like a "stock car", and that is one of the reasons why I like to watch the touring cars. I don't really care to watch cars that bare no resemblence(sp?) to any car on the road.

Look at "stock car" racing(NASCAR)... Thier is not one thing "Stock" about those cars. Sure I might watch every once in a while but for the most part I can't stand it. So I say the more the cars "look" stock the better.

Well, Don't get me wrong. I like Rogeer Foo and what he's doing for the sport, BUT lets analyze this:

Roger Foo 34 out of 40 something cars. FACT
Off-Track Excursion. FACT
8-12 Cars were unable to continue the race because they fell into sand traps. FACT
Roger Foo Finishing 34th wasn't that bad! well at least he wasn't last.

I Know they will work that P5 until they get it up to speed. I hope he wins at Laguna Seca again this year. It'll be sweet to see that P5 in first place. All my cheers are to my man Foo and those super fast MP3's...

:D :D :D :D
