The "Device" is here !!

The FM "Device" is here !!

The "device " that you guys have been referring to is here!! I got it late today and will be installing tomorrow after work. It is a O2 pressure switch installation and the directions are very detailed and "idiot" proof. (If I feel confident about it everyone will)

The guys at FM truely are running a class act.

I'll let you know tomorrow... :D

good to hear jeremy, so is she running aright now, or are you still having a few problems. we've been wondering where you were on wedensdays, same thing for jim where ever he is. btw we have a new spot to chill, away from the (bling) and the drama of pc.

Rad, that means I should get mine tomorrow. I'm interested to hear how it goes for you. Please post with comments-etc..

;)

Ah good!!!!! I will be getting mine soon as well then!!!! Do you think that this will eliminate the need for a second fuel pump should I decide to up the boost?

must be a turbo thing...hmm...I'm being kept out the loop. Kill!

and....after some research (I feel so smart) for those who have no idea what this thread is about it's this.

"The part is a gizmo that attaches to the ECU......"

"...It prevents the ECU from seeing the extra fuel you're adding under boost. Half throttle, full throttle, whatever. The parts are being shipped from FM directly to those of you with the [B.E.G.I.] kits."

Yeah, you won't need it, but it would be a good idea to have one because at boost, the pressure that the stock pump supplies is about at max, and is stressing. These were the findings after Will (WShade) did some testing with the Pierburg Pump in-line with his stock pump. He noticecd that before where the needle used to jump around a little under boost on his fuel pressure gauge, it was steady.

Cutoff issue? It's not going to give you your head :) You guys are making up all sorts of issues for the Protege - the WOT problem, the half-throttle problem.

It's a voltage clamp attached to a pressure switch. Under boost, it limits the voltage that the ECU sees from the first O2 sensor. In other words, it doesn't see that the car is running rich when you're closed loop. When you're open loop, it doesn't matter as the ECU ignores the readings from this sensor. It will be useless for non-turbo people.

Without it, when you're running closed loop, the stock ECU is pulling out fuel as you dump in more, both of you battling for what you think is the "correct" A/F ratio. Since this eliminates the battle, there's no need for quite as much fuel. Thus, the stock pump should be fine. We've just never met an ECU that had this much authority to pull fuel, so it took us a bit to find out what was happening.

Yes, it'll be available for non-FM kits as well.

Just had to check. $99.95, and I'm just adding it (and some other parts) to our webstore right now.

Holy smokes guys, I think I would have understood more of this thread had it been written by the Mazda Engineers...

Device installed correctly.. BUT it still pings!! I don't know what the funk to do ... going to take a break now before I freakin snap!!

I installed mine, and I haven't heard any pinging. One thing yall may want to watch out for is that damn metal plate the ECU is attached to. It cut my hands up pretty bad when I was trying to put it back. I hope I don't start having any problems soon.:(
