I guess I should put in my say, since Ive went through the rough times with my bc2 kit and now have it finshed.
My story.
I was a 16yr old who had just been lucky, my grandmother bought me my used pro lx. I loved the car and had many plans. I then got a job.
First was rims, 18s, to give me more height considering the body kit was going to be longer than the stock bumpers and where I live, its quiet "dippy". I then set my eyes on the bc2 kit. I was going to buy it from the bc2 website for 5 bills but I realized thats in florida so shipping was going to be like 200. I then found out the website sells the kits on ebay too but it came out to be 500 with shipping. I was waiting for another protege kit to pop up when I just went to a "auto restyling", as they like to call themselves, place. The guy convinced me to buy the bc2 kit from extreme dimensions. It was going to cost 850 and another 150 for them to put it on when they got it but as he said, "its a high quality body kit and its well worth the money." So I bought it.
When they got it, I dropped my car off for them to put it on.
4 hours later, they finished.
First things I noticed off the bat, Gaps, unevenness, dips, and SCREWS.
Gaps around the headlights, bumper didnt even with the lines of the fender, the bottom part of the back wasnt straight across like it was suppose to be, it dipped in the middle and my skirts were held in by 4 screws on both sides and didnt fit tightly against the car.
The installer told me all these things would be fixed at the paint shop. I was going to have it painted with the shop they were partners with, it was going to cost 550 then when I came back with money, they told me it was going to be more just because they didnt want to paint body kits so I said **** it. I found another place.
I found Clip Joint, had the guy check out my car and he right away told me that, no offense, but my bc2 kit was made very bad and whoever put it on clearly didnt know why the sun comes up.
Such problems with my kit were, premier was all scratch from shipping and installation, waves in the fiberglass, made very thin, fitted incorrectly, and not 100 percent symmetrical. To Fix all these problems and to paint it, 650.
I said fine and gave him my keys.
As the days went buy I got updates and suggestions. The bumpers were so much longer than the stock bumpers that the shook very easily and could crack the paint l8er on. so for another hundred or so, I had him reinforce the back so it wouldnt shake and I couldn't afford to do the front but also for another 50 or so he made fog light brackets for the fog lights I had in the small holes in the front.
The total came out to be 850 or so and he told me he couldn't do anything about how the skirts were attached because there was barely a lip on them so he painted over the screws so that they were less noticeable.
One full week later, I crack the bumper at work while pulling into my parking space going maybe a half mile an hour.
I didn't take any pictures to show but a chunk was missing from the side where it sticks down lower and my paint had cracked in several places and the bumper actually ripped underneath.
That was another 180 to fix and repaint.
So after about 2100 dollers, it still isn't perfect.
One, that "dip" in the back was only straightened a little bit because thats all he could do without ******* it up, two, the paint on the skirts are now cracked by the screws holding them in so I need new skirts, three, I still have a pinky size gap around my driver side headlight, four, I only have half of my splash guards on both sides because before I painted the kit, they detached from my bumper while I was on the freeway so they basically shredded away, and five, I have to constantly worry about dips and parking stops to hit my bumper because even the slightest movement can crack my paint and even the slightest bump can take another chunk out.
My car looks good to me, but not 2100 dollers worth good along with worrying.
Things I'd advise you of if you do get the kit...
DON'T buy from Extreme Diminsions(the place I bought mine from) and I wouldn't buy it from ground dynoamics or another other body kit site either, I'd buy it from Buddyclub2.com
Have the body shop thats going to paint it, install it, no place else unless you diy.
Realize, body kits are a lot thiner, and more breakable than stock bumpers, they're not made the same..
My status now, I am thinking about trashing the body kit and picking up another front stock bumper with a front air dam lip/picking up a mp3 bumper with the msp front lip and putting my rear stock bumper on with my stock 15s and buy the msp rear lip, side skirts, and then lowering it.
Hopefully you learned from my story.
