The Bose option for the 6, is it really better in terms of sound quality? If so, I assume I can just change the bose speaker from the dealer and have a result of better sound output? (I'm assuming the bose speaker have higher watts)

Thanks

the printout showed difrent speakers for the package with aditional deck speaker...and there is an amplifyer that also plays part in the qualiy over stock...

*edit*
off topic... are the wires for the bose sub running to something cause I'm deciding on if I wanna use those as input lines...?

I test drove one without the bose and listened to the stereo, then I bought one with the bose. There is a difference, though not huge in my opinion. A little extra bass and less distortion at high volume.

What are you looking for in terms of sound? You want it to be louder, cleaner, more bass?

The sound quality will be better, Bose does officially make great speakers. NASA uses them, even. However, I learned the phrase "All highs, no lows, gotta be Bose!" while I sold home audio products for a while, and they've earned it for a reason. If it's a bit more boom you're looking for, just add a sub. How to do it, however, isn't my specialty. Also, remember that for the audio upgrade price on a car, most of the time you can buy some great speakers and an amplifier and put a good system together yourself.

For the price that the dealership will charge for the speakers, you are better off with aftermarket speakers. Do a search or post a question in the car audio forum and you'll find plenty of information.

Yea, I'm looking for good solid bass at higher volume, yet the music is clear to hear. Also, I was considering adding a sub, but bumping my whole car isn't my type, I just like to get good bass at higher volume, but the music stays clear..kinda like still being able to hear the words.

Bass + music gotta be balance.

So get one 8 inch sub in a sealed box. Won't be extremely loud, but the bass will be there when you want. Just don't turn the gain up really high on the amp.

My sub is a LOT louder than I expected, but it sounds niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.

Nope, as I have a 12. I'm sure someone here does though. Hell, my computer speakers came with an 8" sub and it sounds great with the rest of the music.

Some 8" subs, such as the Image Dynamics ID8v3 ($109 on www.sounddomain.com) can work in a .35 cuft enclosure. That translates to a box that is 10"x10"x10" in your trunk.

Think how small that is.

You can also make a larger ported box for it and get a little more bass out of it.

The biggest disadvantage of the BOSE is its difficult to work with. If you want to replace any aspect of the system, you've pretty much gotta replace the entire thing =/.

Hmmm - I've been privileged to hear MANY upgraded sound systems in 6's already, adn I can unequivocally state that the Bose option is only semi-worth it if you like that 6CD player AND are incapable of upgrading or modufying the stock system later. Otherwise - the absolute best bet is to put some money towards an MP3 CD payer (cheaper than the 6CD) and change out all 4 speakers, and throw in a sub. Of course, with an amp for the speakers too - the stock amp doesn't cut it. This blows out anything by Bose.

Also, bear in mind, that NASA does not print any audiophile magazines or analyze sound quality. Fortunately ;)

Bose is widely considered to be a rip-off if you are a music purist. Even riff-raff (like I) can tell that Bose's theory of amping up the mids and treble to generate 'richer' and more 'filling' sound from smaller enclosures changes the original recording substantially. If that quality hit is acceptable, go Bose. Otherwise - save your money and buy something better (now isn't that a nice contradiction!)

Yup go with the standard system and upgrade it.

A small sub that can handle high power, in a small sealed box with a lot of clean power going to it sounds wonderful.

I have a eD 10A (10") sub in a 0.6 cubic foot sealed box, with 600 watts RMS power. Clean, clean, CLEAN.

anyone think it's worth it to either just upgrade that sub in deck or throw 10(s) in the trunk and put the grill over the hole so the bass comes into the cabin? I have the pioneers that don't hit unless they have something in front of them...I feel they are ok and just want better than stock sound. just not hooked up...gonna do that down the road..and wonder if it is ok to use the stock hole where sub would have gone for anything...
