Text messages on 2016 gt

what is the text message feature on the 2016 GT infotainment center? I see the option but it's grayed out. I have an iPhone 6 so does anyone know what needs to happen to do something with text messages? I don't even know what's suppose to happen, can it read and send texts sort of like Siri? And I thought Mazda was an apple CarPlay partner, anyone know anything about that?

I think I had to tell it, when I set up Bluetooth, to read/send text messages. When I get a text, it asks if I want to hear/read the text. Then I get a bunch of preset replies to choose to send back.

Ok so as of right now you can't dictate an text messeage to the car and have it send? It just gives a list of preset replies? I guess I haven't gotten any text messages while driving yet.

Anyone know anything about the apple CarPlay? I know mazda signed on as a partner about 2 years ago but that's all i heard.

texting with iPhone won't work

That is what I was told when I picked my '16 CX5 GT up from the dealer this past weekend. Wish they'd mentioned that before...

It reads it to you but you can't send. I just use the button to have Siri send it.

Apple play is cool and most car companies have signed up to eventually offer it. Only like two do it. Pioneer has it if you want to go aftermarket.
