Test pipe / noise

Quick question

I installed a test pipe and PG inlet last weekend had a light come on but next morning it was gone and has not returned but I have another issue.

When wot in first and second gear at the end of the rpm range right before shifting I get a low "grinding" sound... I am not sure where it is from it sounds like its from the test pipe, I have checked for leaks and have none.

I did notice when installing the test pipe there is no bracket so I am wondering if at wot I am getting movment in the pipe itself??

By the way no lights or lose of power when this happens just a noise but a very noticable noise.

No bracket TP FTL, man. Who's TP is it? Are there sprung bolts at the upstream connection or, a flex pipe section? There needs to be some movement here because the engine moves, especially if you're still on the stock bad rear motor mount.

It is a SU TP there are sprung bolts at the upstream.

I was very curious about not having a replacment bracket to hook back into but when I looked around at all the various test pipes I noticed they were all straight pipe no bracket..... while I will be the first to admit I dont have alot of experience with exhaust it is very possible that everyone else already knew to fix and weld your own which I guess is my next step I just had not seen anyone else talking about this or any instructions to do so with the pipe.

You sure is a grinding noise, I had noise with my HFC's on my G35. A metalic kind of noise.

Well I guess you could say it has a metalic sound...... you can "feel" the sound if that makes any sense....

Yep, check those bolts, you've probably overtightened them. Remove and lube the connection with a high temp/pressure grease to help for a while. Corksport and others use the factory mid-pipe hangers and are better for this. Some use a flexible spun metal section for this, too.

Get a rear motor mount, really, do it. SU's is good, with very little vibe, no noise on their street bushing.

Found the problem...

I have GHL catback and right where the test pipe ends and the GHL starts you have that large plate with 8 bolts holding it and at the bottom of the GHL exhaust is the cylinder L bracket that hooks to the stock exhaust hook.... well that cylinder welded peice was hitting the metal brace plate at wot in 1st and 2nd gear with a simple adjustment I tested for leaks and put it on the road... no more knocking!
