whitey4311 said:Not the warranty on the CAI the MFR warranty on the car. If its worth $90 savings to be hassled if something related fails then go for it, if not then I suggest using the MS CAI.

The dealers told me that if you installed it improperly and it resulted in damage to the car then you would have an issue but its pretty hard to screw up the install if you take your time.
PS you will have to figure out how to get in there when the time comes to clean the filter so no different in having installed it yourself. Either way at some point it will be your hands that have to get in there to clean it. Or I guess you could pay them to do it but that would be stupid.
I think most people are worried mainly about any warranty work being denied when it is UNRELATEDwhitey4311 said:They can and will void any realted failures due to an aftermarket CAI. No aftermarket part or accessory that is properly installed on your vehicle will entirely void your original vehicle manufacturers warranty. According to the provisions in the Magnuson-Moss Warranty - Federal Trade Commission Improvement Act, It is the dealership's responsibility to prove that your modification directly caused or affected the failure you are trying to resolve. With that said, some dealerships are more performance-oriented than others and are more willing to work with customers.
Warranty-related materials, published by the new vehicle manufacturers, state that the installation of aftermarket parts have no effect on the warranty unless such equipment causes the problem that leads to the warranty claim. Nonetheless, some dealers have improperly denied warranty claims even though the claim had nothing to do with aftermarket parts. I.E., just because you install an exhaust system, your suspension failure warranty claim cannot be denied. If you experience a problem with an uncooperative dealership, point out the provisions of the this "FEDERAL ACT". For more information call your vehicle manufacturer or click on the link above to go directly to the Federal Trade Commission's website to find out more about this law.

If they can prove your aftermarket CAI caused the failure then yes you are correct, however its very hard to blow an engine or cause a serious problem with something so basic. Especially when they sell their own CAI that doesnt void the warranty(blue). The way I am taking your statement in would be say I brought in my car because my oil pan was leaking. And they voided the warranty based on my CAI. How would they connect the dots? What if my ac went out? They cant void my warranty because I have an aftermarket CAI in.
Now if I ****** up the sensor transferring it from the stock airbox onto the new one, yes thats obvious. Have you seen how much d&d CP-E put into their intake?
Here ill even read you what it says in our mazdaspeed3's manual
"Do not race or over-rev ANY engine when starting, particularly a turbocharged engine.
Do NOT add aftermarket devices to alter the engines ignition, fuel delivery, or turbo boost pressure, this may lead to serious engine damage and void your warranty"
What does a CAI do? Brings cooler air to the engine(normally). Whats bad or a turbocharged engine? Hot air. So even a new big FMIC wouldnt void your warranty. Unless they prefer hot air going into the engine. Now if you took your intake off, or your intercooler and just replacing it with piping. Then im pretty sure your warranty would be voided.
BPU's generally wont harm your engine, usually they help it. Aftermarket free flowing exhaust? Its actually better for your turbocharged engine. Its letting it breathe easier, thats also why Mazda is coming out with a MS exhaust that wont void your warranty.
