Tell me how good the CAI is...

The warrant is not that great. And plus it seems like your are putting to much faith into your dealers...not to mention it comes in two peices...(screwy)

Not the warranty on the CAI the MFR warranty on the car. If its worth $90 savings to be hassled if something related fails then go for it, if not then I suggest using the MS CAI.

I just think that you are less likely to have issues with MS and going to your dealer.

Also I have called AEM before and they also make 2 piece CAI for the
Mazda 6. So the fact that it is 2 pieces does not bother me one bit.

They cant void your cars warranty because you bought an aftermarket intake. Magnusson Moss Act anyone?

I wanted a MS just because it was a tad cheaper, but they are both great intakes. I have the CP-E CAI and its pretty damn good IMO. I still run pig rich though.

They can and will void any realted failures due to an aftermarket CAI. No they cant void a power train warranty due to a CAI but a dead MAF or related CEL will result in you paying out of pocket for labor and diagnostic should they find the CAI was to blame.

True true....unless you get a super nice dealership. :)

Yeah it always helps to know people but the fact remains otherwise.

True true. I have been there and done that. With our EVO we had...we went into the dealer and on the way out noticed that they wrote every single mod we had done to the car on the repair order....basically we were screwed after that.

Thats why tho I could of installed it myself, I paid the 160 for the dealer to install my MS CAI, now its under warrenty.

"Suck up water, hey the dealer is paying.. "

Thats what the service manager told me..true story

Both the dealers I questioned including the parts manager said that the install has nothing to do with the warranty. Now the work itself may be under warranty so if it failed they would have to fix it with n o additional cost but I dont see that happening.

The dealers told me that if you installed it improperly and it resulted in damage to the car then you would have an issue but its pretty hard to screw up the install if you take your time.

PS you will have to figure out how to get in there when the time comes to clean the filter so no different in having installed it yourself. Either way at some point it will be your hands that have to get in there to clean it. Or I guess you could pay them to do it but that would be stupid.

That is true. Now if you do suck up water or do something like that that will not be covered. Now if your dealer told you that is great. Get that in writing too. But Whitey4311 is right. The work is warrantied. Not what the driver does.

I think most people are worried mainly about any warranty work being denied when it is UNRELATED

If they can prove your aftermarket CAI caused the failure then yes you are correct, however its very hard to blow an engine or cause a serious problem with something so basic. Especially when they sell their own CAI that doesnt void the warranty(blue). The way I am taking your statement in would be say I brought in my car because my oil pan was leaking. And they voided the warranty based on my CAI. How would they connect the dots? What if my ac went out? They cant void my warranty because I have an aftermarket CAI in.

Now if I ****** up the sensor transferring it from the stock airbox onto the new one, yes thats obvious. Have you seen how much d&d CP-E put into their intake?

Here ill even read you what it says in our mazdaspeed3's manual

"Do not race or over-rev ANY engine when starting, particularly a turbocharged engine.

Do NOT add aftermarket devices to alter the engines ignition, fuel delivery, or turbo boost pressure, this may lead to serious engine damage and void your warranty"

What does a CAI do? Brings cooler air to the engine(normally). Whats bad or a turbocharged engine? Hot air. So even a new big FMIC wouldnt void your warranty. Unless they prefer hot air going into the engine. Now if you took your intake off, or your intercooler and just replacing it with piping. Then im pretty sure your warranty would be voided.

BPU's generally wont harm your engine, usually they help it. Aftermarket free flowing exhaust? Its actually better for your turbocharged engine. Its letting it breathe easier, thats also why Mazda is coming out with a MS exhaust that wont void your warranty.

No aftermarket part or accessory that is properly installed on your vehicle will entirely void your original vehicle manufacturers warranty. According to the provisions in the Magnuson-Moss Warranty - Federal Trade Commission Improvement Act, It is the dealership's responsibility to prove that your modification directly caused or affected the failure you are trying to resolve. With that said, some dealerships are more performance-oriented than others and are more willing to work with customers.

Warranty-related materials, published by the new vehicle manufacturers, state that the installation of aftermarket parts have no effect on the warranty unless such equipment causes the problem that leads to the warranty claim. Nonetheless, some dealers have improperly denied warranty claims even though the claim had nothing to do with aftermarket parts. I.E., just because you install an exhaust system, your suspension failure warranty claim cannot be denied. If you experience a problem with an uncooperative dealership, point out the provisions of the this "FEDERAL ACT". For more information call your vehicle manufacturer or click on the link above to go directly to the Federal Trade Commission's website to find out more about this law.

This is exactly my point but a falied MAF isnt so cheap and the cost savings over a MS CAI that maintains 100% of the warranty bumper to bumper and a Injen that is $90 less then a MS CAI isnt worth the price cut to me.

Ofcourse they can not void a warranty for a non related part having to due with a CAI but a CEL that you throw having been triggered by a CAI will result in you paying for the labor and what needs to be done to fix it should you choose to repair what is wrong.

For instance getting a CEL for a bad MAF will result in you taking it to the dealer not knowing it was caused by your CAI and you are now responsible for the labor and diagnostic it took for them to figure it was a direct result on a CAI. Maybe the MAF was going to go bad no matter what but you cant argue that and it is 100% in their right to assume your CAI caused the failure and now nothing in that service is convered, not even the labor.

If you want to save $90 and get the Injen based on these ideas being stupid and roll the dice that nothing will happen then I hope the savings out weighed the potential for issues. For me it wasnt even close to being worth the small savings to deal with any unforeseen issues by using a after market product on this application.

As for the comments that the MS CAI is aftermarket as well who cares because Mazda as a company recognizes it as a factory upgrade that maintains the applied warranty. Go piece together the same CAI with the manufacture they used and its not covered and that is what you are paying for and its well worth the extra $ in my opinion.
