Hey everyone. I have this crazy idea of getting a tatoo. [see attached] I want to have it done down the middle of my back, about 14-16in long.

it says in Korean
Love - sah rahng (roll the r)
Hope - soh mahng
Faith - meed um

I know everyone is getting Chinese symbols, and it may seem trendy. But I am Korean (well half), and I can actually speak, read, write it. Why these three words? Well 1 Corinthians 13:13 says, "There are three things that will endure--faith, hope, and love--and the greatest of these is love."

So, what's your opinion?

thanx,
Luke

most people don't know the differnce between Kanji, Hiragana, Katakana, Mandarin, and Hangul

Lived in Japan, traveled in Korea China Cambodia Thailand Vietnam, that might help me a bit LOL. Can order alcohol, food and say thank you and which way-- but otherwise my language skills generally suck ass.

I really like your idea - and it's even better that it means something to you. I say go for it.

I just got my latest tat done the other day (probably the last one for a while - 5 in under a year is a bit much :)), and it's somewhat similar to yours. Kanji is very common, and almost over done these days; I've always loved ancient Egyptian culture, so I decided to get heiroglyphs down my back.

From the top: Life (ankh), Health (wechah), Strength (seneb), Endurance (djed), Truth (ma'at), Resurrection/Coming Into Being/Trancendence (khepri)

excellent scripture! thanks, cool tat also!

Here is my idiot's guide to telling these things apart

well Kanji(chinese character in japanese) and Mandarin(chinese character) are the same, expect for pronouncation.
looks like a lot of lines trying to fit into a square box. example here.

and Hangul is Korean alphabets.
that has circles doing balancing acts on horizonal lines. or other thigns doing balancing acts on top of circles. Examples here

Hiragana, Katakana are japanese alphabets
Hiragana looks like Palm OS stylus alphabet. Examples here
and
Katakana looks like a lot like the simpled chinese. Examples Here.

yes i know i'm not being politically correct but hey its a guide

i have no idea on how tattoo are priced. any idea what this would cost? I just want plain black ink, 14x2 or 16x2.5 inches

I don't know what prices are like in your area, but in town, most places charge between $100-125 an hour (these are CA prices). I'm not sure if each place is different, but I don't think it should matter whether it's a design the have on hand (ie flash) or something custom you've brought in...
