talked to split second about their afc with NA Tuning!!!!

open loop at 5k for me. I can feel it. Kinda feels like VTEC

sure thats not the VICS solenoid opening?

every gen 3 i've driven has an audible note change when the VICS butterflies open, and a slight turn of power when it happens also....

VICS opens at 5000.

My car exits the open/closed gray area at around 3000 rpm. On the dyno, this shows up as "shuffling" between open and closed, where the AFRs go wild if you're trying to modify the fuel maps via piggyback.

Is this at full throttle or ANY throttle position? It would seem a little odd for the ECU to switch into open loop at 3000- that's really not that fast. But if it's during a full throttle 3rd gear dyno pull then it's a little more believeable. But I doubt that in 5th gear, while cruising at interstate speeds, the ECU is in open loop because the throttle position required to maintain cruising speed is a small %.

I don't know about you guys, but outside of autoxing and track days, I can probably count the number of times I've gone full throttle on all of my available appendeges during my driving career. And I've been driving close to 14 years. Most times, I probably go 75-85% at maximum.

I use WOT a bit, for passing, spirited runs through the hills when it is safe and the speed limit allows me to do so, and when entering the freeway....

I'm impatient, so slow poking around at 3000rpm doesn't do it for me :P

Given that this is a Dastek dyno, done with brake loading, I'm pretty sure that's at WOT dyno-braked to each RPM point... talked to the tuner-guy... ECU intervention is most noticeable at partial throttle, but it's still there at full , to some extent.

i kinda wanna quote you on that. thats really funny. i just love the fact that someone else thinks the same way about my car.

sick! i am installing my midpipe this week and ill let you guys know how that is going.

EDIT: did some more research and since my open loop kicks in late, i was thinking that there is something i can do about it.

output b mode controls the EFI of the ecu, there fore will help with when open loop kicks in.

that be known, i will start using output b mode and see if that will help, because before i left it alone.

ill give you guys updates on how this feature works out on NA cars!

I really hope things work out good with the AFC. If all goes good I will be copying your setup with the SS and 626 manifold in the spring.

im getting a video of my car this weekend up on the forums, some one else has to see my na beast!

great great news everybody, i finally finalized my map!

i have made a couple post before earlier about how my closed and open loop switch happens around 5000 rpms and i wanted to fix that, turns out i figured out a way to fix it.

im using the output b feature that the splitsecond afc has, and i made it where everytime i floor the car, the car switches to open loop. now my car runs good ratios, THROUGH OUT THE ENTIRE RPM RANGE!!!

if anybody can tell me how to get my map on the forumns i would be happy to do it. but how do you make an attachment on the forums?

Thats awesome news. And even more the reason for me to get it. I think we need to start a map sharing thread for NA people since our maps wont work with the msp maps.

To upload your map you go to advanced reply, then under the additional options you go to attach files. Click on manage attachments. Then under the "upload files from computer" click on browse and find your file. Then you click on upload (which is right next to the browse button).

One more thing.... wheres the video :'( .

it doesnt let me load a mdb file?

and the video, well i had to disconnect my wideband for a little bit because im getting my steering column a custom gauge pod, so i am waiting on that to be done. sorry, it will be up soon! but this map is done and perfected!

please explain "output B" and how you made it work. this is great stuff, good work!

ok, since we have a special verison of the splitsecond afc(psc1-020), it includes 02 sensor hook up. as of my understanding, the 02 sensor hook up is for the output b mode feature that is included in the software that comes with the afc.

you have control of output b mode. when you want output b to turn "on", it sends a signal to the o2 sensors, and it tells the car to go into open loop. it does not take complete control but it does a very good job switching to open loop.

so my original problem was i could not control open and closed switching back and forth each other, and i was only able to tune open loop because the pcm level to tune closed loop position is to strong.

so basically my map starts at -3 hg. i set output b mode to over pressure, and i set the pressure to -2.99. so in other words, everytime my car goes under -2.99 hg, my car goes into open loop. (you can also choose over rpm, or both, but i thought it was best to set it to over pressure).

with this setting, everytime i stomp on the gas pedal my car goes into open loop. since my hole rpm range is in open loop, i am able to gradually lean out the ratios between 12.5 to 13.5 afr all the way up to redline.

if you look at the attachment i made earlier and look at my map it will make much more sense.

basically it is the same thing as the superstock map, but in the NA cells and settings.

i hope i explained my self well. and this actually works very well! ken if you tried it, i think you would be impressed!
