Sylvania Xtravision bulb model fitment

So... I decided to upgrade my headlight bulbs (low beams). After reading all the complaints about the Silverstars burning out quickly, decided to get a pair of Xtravisions instead... plus only $20 for a pair.

Seem to have some confusion though - I have a package of 2, "H7XV/2" in the corner. On the back it refers to it as XTRAVISION H7.

However... the they're a different size from what's in there...? smaller bulb, plus the pins are closer together than the wire plug.
According to Sylvania website, just says should be "H7XV".

Am I missing something? Is the "/2" not just a designation for 2 in the package? Aren't all "H7" bulbs the same size/pinning?

I think you're forgetting to transfer the bulb bases from your original bulbs. Look closer, and you'll see what I mean. The bulb plugs into a plastic thing with prongs, and then you install it.

In other words, bulbs right out of the package cannot be installed.

Ok so aparently I'm an idiot

xtravison you shoulda got ultras

No - don't like the color and don't want to be replacing them in 3 months. Waste of $$.

He should have got HID! (ricer)

Eventually, maybe - but only if there is a complete lens replacement kit, no halfassed illegal halogen bulb replacement crap.

Bulbs replaced.
Definitely whiter/clearer now.

A q for those of you who have done this 40 times now...
is there a quick way to drop/remove the wiper fuild fill tube to get it out of the way of the pass side bulb access?
There were moments when I was seriously considering calling my 4 y/o in to provide a hand that would actually fit in there. My knuckles hurt.

sub for that...what a pita that bulb is...

See, if you woulda just gotten the ones that only last 3 months or so you'd get lots of practice & it would be easier. J/K, +1 on the PITA passenger side. Might as well do it in the dark too just for extra anguish points, lol.

Yea not only are these things a pain in the arse to change, they blow out all time. I miss my HID's :(

You could always remove the bumper....I can remove the bumper and both lights and have it re-installed in under an hour.

yeah it's worth looking to see if you can drop the washer fluid tank - not sure. I broke my plastic on the lamp that holds the clip, largely because of being crowded by the filler tube.

I scored a pr of extra clips somewhere along the way from the fs section awhile back just in case.............

That's an awesome skill to have. I'm yet to take off my bumper. (wedge)

I actually never bothered to take that thing off on the passenger side. I just wear latex gloves to minimize cuts on the skin. :D

I guess so. lol I was a little intimidated at first, but it isn't hard at all. As a matter of fact the last time I had it off was on my lunch break at work when I got new/used headlights (since my PS was missing the tab that held the spring clip in place).
