Switch panel access

Can someone please explain to me how to access the switch panel to the left of the steering wheel so I can add switches for lights and etc? Do I have to remove the dash and wheel housing? Also any tricks to get the panel off around the cig ligher for access under there? (monkey)

In order to remove the cigarette lighter you'll have to remove the two panels of the center console, the emergency brake/cupholder and the panel around the gear shifter. Once those two have been removed you'll see two screws below the ashtray, unscrew those and the you can pull straight out on the cigarette lighter panel and it will come out.

I think he wants to access the panel on the other side of the steering column, with the interior lights dimmer.

I'm interested too, and I should be getting my service manual (CD) in the mail any day, I'll see if I can figure it out then...

that and b careful not 2 yank out the a/c wiring/unit while tugging that or remeber which wires go where and don't break the plastic knobs

u can pop out those plastic thingies next 2 the light dim/brightness button thingie. if i recall correctly, they were clipped in. i don't remember if i had 2 take off the bottom plastic covering or the side panel.
