Swap MS3 spoiler for stock?

Hidey ho!

First post here (be gentle ), but just got an '07 MS3 set aside until I'm able to pick it up in a few weeks.

I was curious if anyone has successfully swapped the MS3 hatchback spoiler for the stock hatchback spoiler?

I'm a big fan of a more understated/sleeper look, so visually the swap really appeals to me, but I've been told that the mounting might be different and it might not be a direct swap.

Any experiences doing that swap or absolute downsides to doing so?

hello sweetpickles... awesome name by the way. Welcome to the mazda lovers domain.. aka the forums. I havent heard of anything but considering the Mazda 3 and the Speed3 are completely different in every shape and form then there could be some problems with the mounting and such. I absolutely love the Speed3's hatch spoiler. So I guess Im biased.

im pretty sure the mz3 spoiler will fit the ms3. the only problem i can think of is that u'll loose your 3rd brake light.

I was under the impression the mz3 spoiler also had an integrated brake light? At least that's what it looks like to me looking at the literature.

So nobody is aware of anyone that has done this mod previously? That'd be ideal so then I can piggyback off of someone else's experience (hee!), but maybe I'll end up taking one for the team and be the guinea pig in a few weeks once I receive the MS3.

The MS3 spoiler is actually REALLY discreet IMO. I personally can't tell the difference between the spoilers from afar. A co-worker has a standard 3 and it definitely has the 3rd break light too, so that wouldn't be an issue.

EDIT* I would also assume the mounting is the exact same.

I'm not about to go messing with mine, but there only seems to be 4 easily accessible bolts holding it to the hatch. I'd imagine wiring might differ if one is LED and the other is incandescent...

Don't quote me on it, but I think the hatch designs are identical, save the spoiler...

Yah that's one thing I was worried about Ryz. I'll hold off until i've lived with the car a few weeks at least before making a final decision

If you want the sleeper look, why don't you pull the Mazdaspeed3 badge and replace it with a Mazda3 badge?

Definitely going to be either rebadging or debadging Just not quite sure which one yet. Although I'm not going so far as to put the 2.3 on the side of the car - I don't care how sleeper I think I want to be

the reg 3 hatch the brake light is behind the glass where as with the speed3 its on the actual spoiler... iirc

It's in the spoiler on the 07 GTS...
