Swap motor

Hi, can you explain to me, what the differance which the 1.6, 1.8, 2.0L motor in a protege 99?

And where I can see the engine code?

1.6 is a ZM engine, 1.8 is an FP i believe and 2.0 is an FS engine

the 1.8 and 2.0 share the same block, slightly longer stroke on the 2.0 liter. they make 128 and 130 crank horsepower respectively. many aftermarket parts for the 2.0 will fit up to the 1.8 and vice versa.

the 1.6 shares nothing in common with the 1.8 or 2.0

1.6l is more potential of the 1.8/2.0L?

Habitually is not an engine with more displacement = more power?

the 1.6l can hold more boost than the 1.8/2.0, because of the bigger ones have longer stroked engines, the rods are to weak, and they bend, the 1.6l has a shorter stroke and have thicker rods, cause i mean, at 20 psi on the 1.6l with the hiboost kit, u run roughly 300whp, with a built 2.0l, people are gettin alot higher than that at the same psi, but they have a 2k built motor, and the 1.6l is still running stock internals..

keep in mind 20psi daily is not a good idea, this motor will blow at some point although none of us have done it yet
GOLDPRO runs the highest @ 12psi

thought bickman was at like 17-18, but true, gold pro does run the highest daily, but the same goes for those built 2.0s to , they dont run 16+psi daily, only for a race.. or something,

mia has his set for 17psi once his tranny is fixed.. he will be putting a motor in it next.. lol

biknman is no longer on stock internals, I don't think there's anything stock on his car anymore - lol

wagner recommends not going past 12psi on stock internals, I'd go by his word

mia comment - LMAO!!!

biknman -- he was stock internals, he jsut took it all out to build it up..

wagner-- juan has the same recommendations

mia comment... yep... 17psi.. his friend changed it on the laptop before i droped the car off to the tech to fix the tranny problem...

And Some people had swaped automatic tranny to manual? Is it very Hard ?

Harder than selling your car and getting the platform you really want.

What about swaping for another motor than the proteg motors. What about the 2.3L or 3.0L of the mazda 6 motors?

the 2.3 and 3.0 are radically different in every respect. returnless fuel systems, electronically controlled throttle, reversed layout in the engine bay, different wiring and computer, mounts....

Where is that thread (scratch) ? By the way, thanks for your answers, maybe I'll make more research and try it. I'll let you know if I try.

id turbo ur 1.5l, both the 1.6l and 1.5l are similair, considering i can take the head off of ur engine and it will bolt right up to mine, i would just say watch ur boost levels past 6500k
