So I think I threw a rod and worst case scenario the block is cracked. I wanted to know if i could swap a msp block and head and put it in my mp3. Would this work, This is my first mazda so Im still learning.

Ok kool, so if I was planning on putting a turbo on the car anyway, I might as well do the swap right? What other parts would I need to complete a full swap?

any 2.0 is the same basic engine. there is no benefit to taking an "msp head" to replace and "mp3 head", same with the block, same with the internals. nothing is different or special here. a 2.0 FS is a 2.0 FS is a 2.0 FS. if you want a mazdaspeed turbo setup in your mp3 or protege, get the turbo, manifold, exhaust, computer, install and enjoy.
that is not a 2.0 FS. that 2.0 is about the same as what is in a mazda3. FS is the engine code. the newer mazda3 engines start with L. LF is a 2.0, L3 is a 2.3, L3VDT is the mazdaspeed DISI engine. the FS was used in ford probes, mx6s, 626s, proteges and everything else overseas from 93 to 03. there really is no difference between them fundamentally when it comes to the FS here in the states.
