Suprnova.org

Newsgroups 0wn j00 all.

That is if you are lucky enough to have a good service provider that serves 'em up hot and fresh everyday.

Newsgroups give you maximum download speed on all downloads straight from your ISP. You can't beat that.

BTW, Moeed, what program do you use for newgroups?

suprnova pwned me...i went to dl a movie there and a few days later, my internet got shut down...i called my isp and they told me that i was supposedly "distributing" copywrited material...s***...irc is the place to be!

bah, newsgroups till i die :)
I second that. Newsbin.com was the best $30 or $40 I've spent. Fantistical:D

The MPAA has really been watching torrents lately since that report came out stating that torrent has surpassed http as the most used protocol on the net. Just something to think about if you're grabing dvdrs. Coworker of mine has his cable shut down for a week for sharing Van Helsing.

Get a newsreader that is made for downloading binaries. Outlook might be able to do it, but I don't think it will have all the useful features of a good binary newsgroup downloading program. I have used newsbin pro, and it is very good at what it does. Queueing downloads, filtering by message title, filtering by filename/size/type, automatic downloading, searching multiple groups, image preview, the list goes on.
Looks like the latest version even has support for par files built in.

Go to your service provider's website and try to find where they list the news server address and give it a go. I'm pretty sure they all have some sort of news service, the question is if they carry all the binary newsgroups, and how long they keep the data before it is overwritten.

I've been a major user of usenet for at least 15 years. I pay for a server in the states, and usenet is da bomb. But, some efnet assholes are ruining usenet lately with unidentified posts, not following usenet rules and so on, so you end up having to sort through s*** sometimes to find what you want. I use Agent for my usenet. Outlook express blows.

I think torrent, as long as it doesn't get killed, has the brightest future.

just a tip too, do not use port 6881-6889. Those are typical torrent ports, and some ISP's do look for them.

get firefox, download the torrent search plugin, it works great, and it sorts out which ones have the most seeds, and highest DL rate. I use that mostly, and dont forget the peer guardian, i would highly suggest that, and check weekly on EFF's site, for your IP.

to bad i cant dl from irc. when ever i try to download it says that file extension is on my ignore list. gay. nothing is in my ignore list.

just go to options tools and go under the dcc section and ull see ignore list somwhere in a tab go to disable it and youll be fine ... there should be a check mark box that says turn it back on or somthing make sure that is unchecked as well

ummm i guess but i dl from irc at like 500 k/b s and somtimes 640 which is my cables max bw. id rather have it coming from one source... plus i dont have to ul nething while im doing it. but yes it is a pretty good idea and good for lesser advanced computer users.

i get most of my stuff through sites though, we rent like one out and link em up and have like 2.2 tb rings and such with currys for everything

2.2TB

"nigga please"

I've got 2.5TB of disk space at home. More if I start counting my x-box, ps2, and my iMac.
