Just wondering if it would be possible to have an aftermarket sunroof installed on my MSP. And if it would badly affect handeling if it is possible? Does anyone have any insight on this subject?

you can get one installed however they generally leak over time.... most people that i know that have had aftermarket sunroofs installed regreat it.

Installed at the dealer new, 70k and 4 years later still works great. I LOVE having a sunroof. Handling, I doubt there will be any noticeable handling effects by almost anyone. You are not seriously affecting rigidity. Its a minor addition in weight, but not enough to get excited about.

Do you mind if I ask you how much that cost ya? I am wanting to do this and really would like to have a good job done. But Im not sure how much something like this would cost.

I had one installed at the time of purchase, but not by the dealer. It's been in 4 years and it's never leaked. One or two people will tell you not to get one as a structural member in the roof is cut to install it. I took the chance anyway. I think I paid about $800 installed.

If installed correctly by a reputable company..Then have no worries.

SR's ae nice....If its just a driver and you want it..Go for it.
But have a good reliable Company that has been around a while do it.
Make sure to ask about warranties.

I have the biggest Webasto sunroof installed that would fit in my MSP. It is a motorized in-line moon roof with tilt option and a lifetime warranty for $1,375 USD. They replaced they roof liner and moved the map/dome light back a little. The map light still shines in the front seat. The roof can't leak because there are 4 drain tubes (at the corners) that run down the front and back pillers and dump on the ground. I open it almost every day and tilt it most of the time in the winter!!! I LOVE IT(drinks)

I like how my car handles. I do play around alittle. Im not a big track guy though. I like to have more power for fun. maybe the occasional dragstrip day. But do you think kit will affect handleing alot? Imean I dont race my car on a road course nor do I plan to.

I never felt any difference and I had 15,000+ miles w/o the SR and now 45,000 w/ the SR. I do try to get the car sideways here and there and she handles like a dream!!!

PS: I know nothing about adding pics.

Here's a thread that has at least 1 pic...

Looks like I lied about the price... I apparently posted in that same thread the following information:

I paid $1095 for my sunroof installed in Austin. The dealership sent it out to some other shop to be done. They apparently send lots of their cars to this place. Lifetime warranty on parts; I think 1 year on labor. Took only 1 day to install - very professional job.

I called the place (Classic Soft Touch or something like that) and they said that if I were to bring my car in from off the street it would cost $1400.
