Sunnoco 94 and the Turkey

I put Sunnoco 94 in my car for the first time ever. All the past week, my turkey is much less of a flutter and more of a smooth "PSSSSShhhhh". It's not smooth like a WRX but it's not as much of a gobble.

Other than that, I've noticed no other difference.

Also, I wonder if it's the cooler weather. Next week when I go back to 93 I'll know.

Well it is getting close to Thanksgiving...somehow I think that may have something to do with the gobble going away...............

Its the weather and I like it. My cars been runnin smoother and seem like im getting more power.

what's so funny?
the discussion has occured MANY times before... i just find it extremely hard to believe that a cold air intake can cause compression surge... sure you can suck in more air, a little bit faster, but enough to cause a surge? i don't think they'd design it so that compression surge would happen stock, because if you listen closely to a stock msp, you can hear the same noise.

ever stop to think the reason why peoples turbos are shitting on them so fast?(compressor surge will overtime fuckup a turbo)

not saying that is the case, but on ANY car when you start hearing that "turkey" sound when you let off the gas, it IS compressor surge...unless you got a duck call on your BOV...

i understand that... just cuz i dont post a lot doesnt mean i dont read. i have spent the past several months here, just reading, and doign little posting here and there. i understand EXACTLY what compressor surge does... over time your turbo dies. i haven't heard of anyone's turbo just shitting on them though... and there are quite a few people running CAIs here last time i checked. i have also spoken w/ numerous car people who are EXTREMELY smart about cars... it just doesnt make sense. is it possible? yeah, but i just have hard time believing that they would produce a car prone to compressor surge, thats all. there was no need to get an attitude though, i was just posting my thoughts

no possible way you think it could be a flutter from the BPV? because it is definately there stock as well, if you listen. the stainless steel tubing just amplifies the noise. my thought is this: i dont believe the CAI causes the turkey, it just amplifies it. now whether or not the noise is compressor surge or flutter is what i wonder.

i have no attitude, just trying to give out a little knowledge, ...the stock BPV system on the callaway designed msp kit, is insufficient in getting the air out of the system, therefore creating compressor surge, that's why some people with aftermarket bovs and modded stock setups don't have that problem(the air is getting out of the pipes instead of back to the compressor housing), but SOME people still ahve the problem even after getting aftermarket pipes and BOV, so that proves it is not the stock bpv fluttering.

does that have anything to do w/ the fact that some people run both a BPV and BOV at the same time? that maybe not all the air is exiting through the BOV, and that some is recirculating back throught he BPV?

from what i remember (could be COMPLETEY WRONG... i am no car guru by any means) some people are running a BOV in replacement of the stock BPV... others are running them in tandem... if the BOV isn't setup properly (pressure at which it releases i guess? not EXACTLY sure how it works), is it possible that some air might not exit through the BOV, but instead go back through the BPV?
