Summer tires pressure?

So what should they be?!

32 psi Front
29 psi Rear

What's best as people have found performancewise?
And would it vary from different tires and manufacturers?

Arkitek, don't be fooled. It's 32 Psi all around. I always wondered why it was different too. But it's incorrect. Same size tires, same Psi.

Over on the MP3 forum, the recommendation seems to be 34+/30+ for front/back for even tread wear and daily driving. Bump it up 4-5psi more on both ends when you're running autox.

For finer adjustments to make the car over or understeer, tire pressure can be used also with the the front/back ratio. The higher the ratio, the more understeer will be the result.

And if your car is pulling right or left, you can increase pressure on the side that's pulling to straight it out. Odd that you even have to resort to this but I'm not surprised.

Actually, after much trial and debate, my summer pressures are much different than recommended. I run pretty hard when I drive, so I run about 39 front and 33 rear. Great handling all the way around, and I don't push through any high speed tight corners.
Just a thought.
As for autoX on street tires, I ran 52 up front and 35 rear. Sounds high, but they don't roll over that way.
Not gospel, but it's worked really well for me.

hehehe .. what is this, Nascar? ;)

The MP3 is recommended higher in the front, lower back I think that is where the 32/29 or 31/29 came from. Protege5 is 32/32.

Autocross pressures are ... for me usually (as much as 6 lbs) higher in the back depending on how tight the course is.

The 32/29 pressures come from the initial spec sheet on the mazdausa web site. The development engineers dropped the rear pressures 3 lbs so the car would rotate a little quicker into the turns.

The lawyers probably put it to 32 all around to dial in a little more understeer, which is what most people are used to.

My autox pressures were 37/32 in the wet at my first autox. Was a full 1.5 seconds quicker (on a 62 second course) than the WRXs running that day.

And I, too, love my Mazdaspeed.

So I got it backward then?

If you want the car to understeer, the front/back ratio should be lower?!
This kinda goes against what I understand from watching racing and playing them simulators.
Can someone explain how this work??
