subwoofer break-in period?

On the photocopied papers that came with my Elemental 12A.22 it says among other things:

"This subwoofer requires a break in period of 1 week. DO NOT APPLY FULL POWER FROM YOUR AMPLIFIER UNTIL AFTER A MINIMUM OF 1 WEEK BREAK IN TIME."

So far I've had probably a little over 2 hours listening time at medium levels, and no bass boost from the amp. To me the 1 week time period seems irrelevant as some people may run their sub 15 minutes a day while others run it 2 hours a day. Is there an hourly equivalent for this? I'm really itching to see what this thing can do

mine plays fine too but I don't want to hurt it by bumping too soon

i'm too impatient to wait a week i usually just run it at a 30 hz sine wave for an hour or 2 at medium volume. don't go over 1/2 excursion for the break in period. you need to break in the suspension, and allow the VC to heat up to moderate temps. it's like an engine. they will work fine brand new, but if you break it in, rather than push the limits of it right away, it will last longer

I've probably put somewhere between 4 and 5 hours on it now

btw, I just bought the new Outkast, and the 12A loves it

well it was released in 03 but it's the 2-cd one, one is Speakerboxxx and the other is something else

It's great from what I've listened to so far

part of the reason I'm just leaving my stock spare tire sub in for lows... below 50 hz..

I like weight reduction and stripped the rear of the car but left the woofer

well my JLs only weighed like 13 lbs each, and the box was a lot lighter too

not to mention smaller...

lol, the brahma weighed a lot, but can't compare to this.
that's my new box with my treo CSX 18 the treo weighs about 20 lbs more than the brahma 10
