OK, today I need your help.

I can't deside what subs to get to mate up with my JL 1000/1.
Please vote or make another recommendation.

Heres the Goals:

- Very good SQ, not perfect though as I will never compete or likely never use a 1/3 octive EQ.

- Hit High 130's or low 140's

- Be within a 1.5-4 ohm total load, preferably 4 ohms.

- WOW factor must be in effect.

- Try not to weght the car down to much, although I am the only person in the world that bought a turbo as a stereo mod :D.

- I'd say be unique but with JL equipment thats not exactly possible.

Thanks and
Enjoy!

anything jl...................they have the best subs, hands down. you know that:)

I heard the Eclipse Titanium subs in my friends car and they sounded awesome! That would be my pick but any of those choices would make a killer system.

sorry to go against the others but i love the licker l7 solobarics. i used to use jl only but once i tried the kicked i am hooked...just am opinion

well I went for the 2 W7's cause my friend with a viper only has one in it and it hits harder than anything I've heard. But I love the look and quality of the eclipse. Been thinking of going with 1 12" aluminum eclipse myself. Those don't need as much power as the titainiums right(plus they cost less)?? Can't wait to see all that you have planned become reality. It's going to be sweet.

Yes the titainums need more power but my listed selection take that into account.

My problems is there is alot of desision still holding up the project.
I wanted to use the pioneer DEQ-P9 and a DEX-P9 but I can't afford it so I am going back to the Alpine CDA-9815.
I want to get some really high end speakers but the JLs affer the most for the money.

The titaniums will take 1000 each.

I have a friend who I've prolly already mentioned, sending 700-800 watts to each of his 10" Eclipse Aluminums. He's running an older RF 1100a2 at 3ohms (1400watts@2ohms)...it hits very nicely from 20hz to 100hz

At one point he had 3 10"s in a Caddy firing backwards and it was the deepest/tightest bass I've ever heard.

For the 'wow' factor I would go with one of the "trios" of subs. Even my first box, the 3 JL10W0 Powerwedge, got tons of wows.

Considering the power from the 1000/1, you will prolly get tighter bass from the JL W6v2s. I've heard the Eclipses under low power and they are nothing to write home about...they crave a high-power system.

The JL will easily crank more then a 1000 watts rms and unlike most other amps it doens't very much in power as the subs impedance bounces all over the place and the cas voltage slips.

I am leaning toward 4 10W6AEs since they will actualy cost the least.

With 4 subs you not only have to worry about the weight of the subs (the AEs are prolly the lightest of the bunch anyway), you have to worry about the size of the box. Thats going to be a huge box. I hope you weren't planning to use your trunk.

Actualy The 4 10W6ae will take less space then the 2 10W7s.
And you are right they don't way alot like the 10W6v2, W7 oe eclipse subs.

Heres the plan:

4 10W6s sunk into the tire well as best as possible.
SHould only need to raise the floor 4" total if I get real tricky.
The sub amp and caps go on the left side of the trunk.
The Front kick panel amp and door speaker amp go on the right with the crossovers and Audio Control EQS.

I should be able to actauly fully retain the use of my trunk and fold down seats!

Everthing needs to be covered with very duable grills and carpet but under the grill I may do some nice fiberglass inserts.

Still alot of options and with my town house buying money is going to be tight.

Sounds like its going to be alot of work...

btw, I just made a grill for my friend's porsche. I found exactly what I was looking for at Home Depot as usual. A 1'x2' piece of grill material that can be used for doors or outdoor grills. Only $10. SelectProducts wanted like $50 for something of the same gauge steel. It was a b**** to cut, but the result (pictures coming) was real sweet.

I've been thinking about putting a pair of 10W7's in my 6 actualy, and was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to hook them up to the bose audio package (the only two cars they had that were the color/model/ect. that i wanted had bose audio). Are there any suggestions, problems, or things i should look out for?

Thanks,
Francesco

Yeah, you should be able to but I can't say how exactly as I have nothad my hands on one yet.

I am a huge fan of MA Audio. Especially their 2003 line up. I just switched a friends JL w3's for 2 of the bottom line MA's. They completely made JL look/sound like s***! Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of anything JL audio. If yur gunna be running a 1000/1 in bridged mode, you should see mid to high 140's easy. If the setup is right. I had the 500/1 on 2 old MA subs and was hittin 149's-150's all day long in the wrong size box. Not telling you to buy MA or JL, just wanted to shoot you some info. Let us know what you end up doing...Later,

I've got a friend that swears by MA Audio as well. They are power hungry though and kinda flashy. I didn't like the way his pair of 12"s sounded in his Jeep Grand Cherokee, but thats just me.

You can't bridge a 1000/1 its a mono amp.
I will look at MA, thanks.

Yeah Yeah Yeah, that's what I meant. You still have 2 channels. 2 subs....Later,

I am not trying to break your ballz but. Mono means 1 channel not 2.
There is only one channel of output.

THE CHOICE IS MADE!
The Subs will be 2 JL audio 12W6v2s running off the 1000/1

Thanks everyone that participated. :D
