STX Thread?

I really would like to know how many of you are runnign in STX and what your setups are like? Sharing info is always a good thing, we need to take out those WRX's...

My car does not rotate enough as of right now, it tends to 4 wheel slide in fast offsets.

had the same thing happen when i was running my RH's with ES100's didnt mind it so much just rolled back on the throttle and it would grab and pull itself back in line. I will find out this weekend how things work out with the 15" slipstreams with Azenis

Me I was planning to run DS but I decided to stick to STX for this season.
My Speed will stay mostly stock for this season but here are my specs:

Camber
Front: -2.3 degrees (camber bolts)
Rear: -1 degrees

Toe
Front: ~0 or 1/16 out
Rear: ~0 or 1/16 out

Sway Bars
Front: Stock but hole added to add stiffness
Rear: Stock

Tires:Falken RT-615, 235/40-17 front, 225/45-17 rear

Wheels: 17x7 Kazeras 50mm offset

Tire Pressures
Front: 36-38 lbs
Rear: 38-40 lbs and higher if needed

I have a couple of STX Integra Type Rs to run against locally and also a few MSPs with more mods then mine. I'll see how well I can fare against them again this year since I got some very good results last year.

Nice rear sway bar and brackets. I bet it does not clunk.
Are your brackets custom made?

Post up your impressions from those rates. They are similar to the TriPoint rates but they ran w/o a front sway bar.

Whats your ride height at? From Ground to Side rails?

I'll let you know whenever I get the thing back on the ground. I'm in the middle of replacing my broken diff. I am raising it about 1/4 inch all around from last year since i was rubbing the fender liner, but I can't remember what it was before. I don't think its as low as yours, judging by the pics.

I'm going to MidOhio next weekend, I'll let you know after that.

Wow, so much more grip with the front sway bar reconnected.

Hey Jeff, I hope you dont mind me coming into your thread, but I thought you might try this, too.:) I also tried removing my front sway bar. Yep, less grip for sure. Then, I was doing some work, and had to remove the front strut bar. In my haste, I forgot to re-install the front strut bar. I go for a nice drive, and I'm wondering why my car is rotating much better than before. Must be the strut bar. So I put the bar back on, and low and behold, it handles like crap. I took it off many times just to make sure. Not sure if your car would be better or not. But it seemed to be great for my car. Just an opinion. ;)

Again, hope you dont mind me coming into your thread.

I'd love to take out a WRX or too as well so I'll join in...with a little different car :)

1994 MX6 V-6 Cloth Interior, Sunroof, No ABS, rear spoiler delete.

Setup:
Tein SS Coilovers w/camber plates on front.

Spring Rates
Front: 445lbs

Camber
Front: -2.5 degrees
Rear: -.25 degrees

Caster
Front: 3.0deg

Front: 0-1/8" total
Rear: 0

Sway Bars
Front: Stock
Rear: AWR 19mm

Longer Studs

Tire Pressures
Front: 40lbs
Rear: 40lbs

Brakes:
Hawk HP+ all around.
New OEM rotors
New calipers, all four
New Mazda Master Cylinder
New brake lines.

Transmission: 60k mile trans, OPM LSD, Beck/Arnley clutch kit, Redline 75W-90

Engine:
Cold Air Intake. Motor Mount Inserts All synthetic fluids. 175k miles. Uses no oil, perfect compression. Stock manifolds for now (headers very soon) Stock Cat, 2.5" manderel bent exhaust with 18x4" round Magnaflow muffler in stock resonator location. Side Exit.

Corbeau FX1 Seat. Schroth harness.

Headers should net me up to 10ft/lbs at the wheels across a large part of the RPM band and ~7peak whp. I'll be doing the AWR rear trailing arms, poly bushings for the front control arms and new controll arms to get new rubber for the rear suspention. Battery re-locate is also in the near future.

Locally the only competition I have in in the Pax index with everybody...nationaly I really hope to take down at LEAST a Mini or two :D

hehe I didn't know we had an afc running on your afc jeff. Woot none the less glad to see the afc is still kickin ass... on that note not sure what bracket i'll be racing in...but I think the ms6 may start to make the transition...was holding out in hopes of getting my hands on a track lotus, but thats proving rather difficult for what I want to spend on a toy...

Just had my first Time Trials this weekend. I got the car on the ground for the first time at 3 am Saturday and grabbed a couple hours of sleep and finished up a few things in the morning, then made it to the track. I am still figuring out pressures on the Nittos, I didn't have time to align it since I couldn't budge my tie rod locking nut so I just dialed out camber to 2 degrees where the toe was close to 0 and I haven't touched my shocks yet; but with all that I'm already going faster than I was last year at nationals! I ran a 1:45.4 on the Pro course compared to a 1:48.1 on the Club course last year (all the experts on the track say around 2 extra seconds for the chicane). The car felt pretty neutral (with a slight tendency to oversteer on left turns and understeer on right turns - I didn't have time to corner weight it yet so I'm sure I've got some serious wedge going on) once I got the tire pressures close to what they should be.
For results, I got 2nd on sat and 1st today. The difference being the tire pressures were WAY off on Sat (10 psi too high).

Here are some pictures just because I'm glad to have it moving again!

Can you explain your clutch "kit?" STX does not allow for clutch/pressure plate/flywheels other than OEM.

Britt

It's a Kit consisting of a new pressure plate, disc, throw out and pilot bearing, just like any other new clutch you would purchase, it comes as a kit. Made by Beck/Arnley, it's an OE equivalent purchased through Napa. I can get you the part number if you would like to check it for yourself :)

Update on the car, last weekend on the Wendover Concrete I started out at 38 psi instead of my normal 40 psi. Felt good, slightly more compliant. For the afternoon runs upped the camber to -2.75, re-set toe to 0. Wow. What an improvement. So much more front end grip. As I got used to the change, I figured I went another .2-3 faster, and by the afternoon figured out how to go a full .7-8 faster on this setup. Really helps work the tail of the car around the tigher sharper stuff. Allowed me to literally 'wiggle' around one sequence of pointer cones. It was a LOT of fun.

Next, I'm going to play with strut bars, gauge the difference (if any) and then add some more rear camber to see if I can maintain the willingness to rotate, but at much higher speeds :)
