STUBBORN Misfire ...

I just had this happen to me as well. Idle was low and rough. Car felt like it was going to stall whenever idling. Difficulty starting. Jumpy RPMs when letting off gas going down hills. Finally threw a CEL this morning. Took it to the dealership and got the same code "Random Misfiring". Replaced the EGR Valve and so far it seems okay.

Just wondering what everyone else had to pay to replace the EGR Valve. Mine ran me $275 CDN (about $240 US) for the part and labour.

bad :(

Sorry for the late response, but I called Earnhardt Mazda here in Chandler, AZ @ 1-888-210-0170 and gave them P/N FFY1-18-100 and they told me they have 1 in stock and it is $23.63 and it would be next Tuesday if I wanted another. So tell your dealerships to kiss your ass when they tell you $100 and that P/N doesn't work.

I tried another website and it told me the P/N was superceded (sp?) with FP8518100C but they could not find that number. So I say go tell them that another Mazda dealer found that P/N no problem and they quoted you $23.63 + tax. I think this number was a bit higher then what I paid, but it was a long time ago. Either way, they are trying to rip you off!

If the code comes back see which cylinders are misfiring and then switch your ignition coils, clear your CEL, adn then see if comes on again but the other two cylinders misfiring this time. Replace that ignition coil with either the P/N stated above or thru a rockauto.com

People!

STOP! Nevermind Mazda dealerships, go with www.rockauto.com

I received my coils yesterday and installed them, now only time will tell if that gets rid of the random misfires!

Rockauto Rocks! (headbang) Very good service and fast delivery (even when the part is not in stock) 2 coils cost me 50$ (shipping and taxes included)

Thanks Diehonda :D

No problem. The site navigates well, the customer service people are really helpful, and the shipping time is awesome. And then a couple weeks later you get a discount code via email for an extra 5% off. Mine is good until 02/28/06 and will prolly order something else by then thus always having an up to date code.

Glad to hear that you had a good experience also. (thumb)

Jon that is an old part number that has been superseded; that ignition coil is no longer available. I do have two of the superseded ignition coils in stock.

FP85-18-100C Ignition coil $68.94 each

Shipping by UPS ground in the 48 states $7.00

Total $75.94

State sales tax applies in Texas.

I would need a shipping address to quote you shipping outside of the 48 states.

You can order that by replying to this email. I will need a shipping address, a daytime phone number, and credit card info. You can call me toll free at (877)967-6884 with the credit card info, but please put the shipping address in an email reply.

Thanks, Richard Arndt in Parts at Mazdastuff.com

where do I start, Oh, car problems.... Yeah low idle, mechanic has it today and tomorrow. I am going to get some headers if I can find a deal somewhere. Don't want to drop too much because I am trying to get a baffled oil pan and some stuff for my other car. Other than the low idle it seems good.

for me replacing EGR valve def solved low idle problme but my car shudders or try to stall when car gets warmed up at parking lot, but it doesn't happen everytime, it only happenes time to time and driving or at stop signs are totally fine.
I don't have cel yet, and hoping not to have it.
I hope your mechanic fix your idle problem.

the stalling thing sounds like the problems i have had in the past. i've found that spraying the pcv and hoses with some carb cleaner, and make sure that all the hoses are tight should make it better...at least for a while.

thanks for the info, but I replaced new pcv valve and checked for any leak...
but this thing only happens when I'm at parking gear and car gets warmed up.
after warmed up, no problem with driving....so I don't know what the problem is.
I really def take it to dealer when cel comes back on.
I'm thinking if it's fuel pump or battery ?

well actually then its the opposite of the problem i had/have. my problem is that after it is warm if i start it up it stalls(for example, drive to the store, park car for a couple minutes while inside, come back out and start it). when its cold its starts just fine.

could be fuel pump, or injectors.

should i take the airtex which is in stock and 15$ or the STOCK which is Out of stock and 17$..? which is better the stock one or the airtex?

thanks
