anybody has a good answer to this? I work tomorrow 30miles away and the pads are really worn out..

would drilling be a good idea?

you can use a small plumbers wrench, the harder you turn the tighter it grabs. if you don't have one or don't want to get on then you can try vise grips or channel locks

Drilling......not unless you have a really good aim and clearance.

Option 1) I would suggest getting a sawzall and cutting the head off. then getting some vice grips and removing the bolt that way. Only problem is that you need to have the replacement bolt to go back in there.

Option 2) Is to really tighten down on the head with some vice grips and try it that way.

Option 3) Try removing the other bolt and using a wedge to pry the side up so that the caliper opens up to replace the pads.

Iirc we only have the one bolt. The other side is just the pin made as a stud. I wonder if you can pull the entire bracket off and do it that way. Of course it'd be a pita to do it like that

This is how I always do it. I've never messed with the hex bolt in all the pads I have ever changed.

Havent thought of it that way.. but that's certainly do-able
thanks. im gonna post feedback later on. :)
