Just wanted to get opinions on best price/performance street racing tire??

Only going to be using tire during summer for my speed/racing rush i have to crave...I was thinking either Fuzion ZRI's or Yokohama Prada Spec-2...

Tell me what you think???

Also tires will be 215/35/18 if that matters in performance....(first)
technicly ut noy supose to race in the street :P

No im not 17, im 20, i didnt really mean street racing, its my daily driver, i just want good tires that stick and what not. my goal is really 1/2 qucikness and 1/2 looks. im not a huge racer, but if i was, here in Ne we got a pretty nice drag/road coarse track close by so i could go there. I just wanna be able to know that i could be quicker if i wanted to be. I officially hate honda's, no reason really, just too many around, thats why i baught this protege5, something different and i think with some $$$ its got potential...

so let's get this straight:

You titled a thread "Street racing tires ?" but yet...don't want to street race.............................................. I mean...yea, street racing is dumb...but like...

My head hurts.

Falken Azenis rt-615

Goodyear eagle F1 GS-D

A protege 5 is a poor choice for trying to go fast, unless you have deep pockets.

haha, yea i know i should of put title of thread, best tire or tires.
my goal is 1/2 looks 1/2 speed. im not trying to be the Fast N Furious, just id like to know my P5 has some quickness...

You guys do have some good opinion though...haha

I'm saving money for falken RT-615s. Hankook Rs2s are also supposed to be real good. Keep in mind the stickier the tire the more often you'll generally have to replace it.

I've got yokohama AVS ES100s right now, they're okay for everyday use i guess but at autocross events the sidewalls aren't stiff enough and roll over even with lots of pressure in the tires. But for a budget, take-some-corners-quick-on-the-commute-to-work kind of tires, they do pretty good i guess.

BTW, in case you can't tell most people frown on street racing, and, if you plan on getting good speed out of your pro5, plan on going turbo.

yea, i can tell people frown on street racing, idk y i titled it with that name, but i did good good quick response from people. And I love this forum site, ive sat online for the last couple days listening to sound clips and videos of P5's racing and exhaust sounds...its helped me out so much deciding on which intake, exhaust, headers, wheels and tires i want to get, ive actually thought about taking out a $4k loan to get a complete turbo kit from protegegarage.com. Problem is i dont wanna know how much it would cost to have someone put the turbo in my car for me. Id like to help or work with someone who knows how so i could learn...im only 20 yrs old and i love cars, but not really many of my friends are so im kind of a loner when it comes to cars....

listen man unfortunatley hondas will be beating up on our P5's forever. Its just a fact, they have cheap readily accesible parts. If you want to win I would stick to the track that is where our vehicle shines. Check out the local sections at the bottom of the forums page and you can meet up with people that live in your area.

Yea true, but i took a honda one day, haha it was stock nothing special, it was like a 04 or one of those years with that body style, he beat me on the start, but idk if i just shifted better or he sucked at shifting or what, but i caught him quick, not a big race, just messin...no cars around. haha

I'm running Toyo Proxes4 in that size on 18 inch rims. I love, love, love them. They have good performance & handling considering my suspension is stock. They cost a bit more, but worth it.

I don't condone street racing, but I bet they are awesome for Autocrossing & track racing.

ive looked at 215/35/18s on a tire size calculator and to be honest it seems like a bad tire for daily driving, theres almost no sidewalls

go with 225/40/18s, itd be a softer ride too.

use that and get an idea

Yeah...There isn't much of a sidewall which really sucked when my valve stem went bad as I was doing 80 mph on I-75 about 2 weeks ago. The tire looked fine so I got the valve stem replaced. We put the tire back on & it started pulling & then popped. Thank goodness we were going slow on a side road & I wasn't on the Interstate again. The belts had separated. And, somehow, I managed to no wreck my rim...Which surprised everyone including myself.

The only reason I am running that low of a profile is because they came with the wheels when I bought them. It was a package deal from my Brother's shop. Someone had special ordered them & never paid for them, so they wanted them out of the shop. I had already decided that when it was time for new tires, I was going to get a thicker sidewall.

But I do love the Toyo Proxes4s. The don't spin like the tires that came with the car when I bought it. Those ones always wanted to spin on take off, the Toyos grip really well, even in the rain. The others ones would start hydroplaning when I was driving on the highway a lot. These are awesome in the rain.

yes toyo proxes 4 are the best. cant complain at all. very great handling and hug the rug quite well. i love em too.

I've got Yokohama Parada spec 2's and I looooove them.

I'm either going to be purchasing them in the spring or BFG's G force sports.

My friend had the G force sport on his contour SVT and he said they were nice and sticky on the curves , meaning nice and sticky on launches

But then again your driving a stock P5 i'd focus more on rippin the hell outta the curves. Thats why i'm not too upset about my stock MP3, its obvious that i'll get my ass handed to me by 95% of the cars that i come up against but i'll **** them in the curves which is what i'm more about. Drop some springs, struts and tower brace, with a header and intake and you'll be set.
