Street race, and you risk the demolition of your vehicle

Let them run, and have heaftier fines, and jail time. Than if they kill someone for running it will be even worse on them! There is no way to justify street racing, you can't do it.

If you are going to race, take it to the track where it is safe! There is no such thing as safe street racing! PERIOD!

yay...more high speed police chases...just what we need...[/sarcasm]

track racing isn't "safe" either...it's just safer...it can also be very dangerous as if one of the race cars spill oil and the track operators don't see it...try going through an oil spot at 100+mph see what happens...i have

I'm still alive, and I haven't killed anyone. Almost all of my friends street race, and none of us has harmed anyone. Hell, I think I got about 3-4 good races this weekend, there weren't any other cars around, and it was really safe. Sorry, I'm not going to drive to a track that is 2 hours away that's $15 to run at, to get 3 runs in against 6 second drag cars, then drive all the way home.

The problem with destroying cars is yes, the running. By making the laws more strict, and kids hauling ass to get away just endangers MORE lives.

Better watch out. Darwin is out to get joooo.

street racing is lame..buy a bike you'll get all that teen angst speed agression out really quick and into a concrete divider.

Your much more likely to kill someone running from the police than being in a street race. I'm not for it, but many street races tend to away from the public eye. Police chases less so. I'm not advocating street racing but making a law that is just going to push people to another crime just is not the right answer.

dualing with opinions about street racing

I can see both sides of the story.Street racing breaks a few rules , and you always have idiots werever you go, (especially down here if idiots could fly this WOULD be an air port) but it is also kind of fun. down here we isolate races out of citylimits, it helps on the cop situation, but its kind of cool to go out and nfind out how much faster or slower your car is without the crowd and all the time slips, and the lights. I love going to the strip dont get me wrong ,but people have differant intrests. i kinda perfer both, but this is ARK. (ricer)

put it this way when you are street racing your reactions are higher, cuz of that adrenaline. i really think that the law is a bit to strict, when has someone street racing killed a person recently?
if this is such a problem, then why make cars that go faster then the speed limit? why sell performance parts for production cars?
its the government's own fault.
what is a person who goes and gets supercharged mustang gonna do on weekends or whenever? drive the speed limit... yeah right. why is that supercharger there then? so you can go faster then the other cars. duh...

if the police really wanna do something about it, then they would take it to the government.

but isnt this a democratic country.. should we vote on everything, did you have a vote that said you wanted to crush cars that were street racing? then who is speaking for you. i bet they would crush a plymouth superbird, IF they caught it.

i heard about this out here. the cops out here have been pulling people over for any little thing. if they see an exhaust, they pull you over and then look under your hood just to see if your legal or not. i think the new law goes both ways, its good because maybe people will learn and not want to risk losing their car, but at the same time it'll make people want to run from the cops.

on a side note, if they crush your car and your not done paying payments, what happens, will the insurance cover this or do you still have to pay off the car?

Oh another thing to think about, the penalties for drunk driving aren't even this severe. So my suggestion to everyone, if you go street racing, get drunk and just claim you were drunk driving and not street racing.
You need to add those who use cell phone while driving causing accidents into that category. I saw as much accident caused by cell phones as drunk driving.

Gimmie a ******* break street racing death statistics are so overhyped its not even funny. Like someone said, DWI penalties arent even this sevre. I would make a bet more people die from people falling asleep at the wheel, old people who cant drive, and idiots on cell phones than street racing. Its just absurd how overhyped it is. Its the same deal with marijuana, there hasnt been any known marijuana related deaths, yet its labelled a drug and a cigarette is a fashion statement.

Honestly any combination of these solutions should help the current problem

1. Let the stupid ones die. who gives a **** darwinism at work + population control. Ever since we implemented all these laws, our population has been going way up population has multiplied by 1000 times since 1800

2. Give the racers a wide road where it is 1/4 mile long and easily accessible. They can race there all they want without killing innocent lives. Just make sure its near the cop station to lessen the crime

3. The more illegal you making something the more people wants to do it. So stop giving a ****.

Didja ever notice it is almost always young guys? They get a fast car or build a fast car and they think they know how to drive it because they are good at video games or they see it done in a movie. It takes years of experience to drive a car fast. (bang)

where have YOU been?

i dont street race...well i race to about the speed limit +5 and thats it. im not interested in getting some huge ticket, even a speeding ticket, or damaging my car.

on the other note, that law is ******* stupid. goddamn FF movies ******* everything up, making people think it is some huge problem that it isnt. yes it sucks and is dangerous but not nearly as bad as DWI, DUI, etc.

what is really needed is a law that makes sense. The penalty for drunk driving is less severe than if you are caught street racing. I'm sure I don't need to remind people that drunk driving is one of the most deadly and dangerous situation you will find on the streets. While street racing needs to be cracked down upon a better option would be to better educate the young drivers who just got their license. Street racing is not all glamourous like portrayed in F and F, and this is what kids think. Virtually everywhere I go and someone asks me a question about my car they bring up the fast and the furious. Which as tuners and car enthusiasts know is not an accurate representation of what it is we do. That just kind of shows you where the mentality of most kids are.

Exactly why I hated that movie.
