Street Prepared build

I figured I could only get an extra degree or so, but it looks like I got at least 2-3 extra degrees. I guess the bolts are more effective on the rear.

Did you check your toe settings also? I think gaining more negative camber in the rear will give you more toe in as well, which would also help keep the back end planted.

Didn't do that either. As well as this build has seemed to go there have been breif spats of rash spontineaty. This would be one of those times.(thumb)

What are your impressions of the Start? I'm planning on picking a seat up this summer and its on my list of potentials.

I love the seat. It's bare bones to be sure, but it doesn't bother me to spend an hour or two in it at a time. If I was a seat salesman this is what I would tell you. There are two seats that I've compared and those are the Momo Start and the Corbeau Forza. I've sat in both. The Momo has much higher hip bolsters which make gtting in and out harder, but you really feel like you are encased around your hips. The Forza is a lot easier to get in and out of. The Forza has a little more support under your thighs but I didn't drive in the Forza so it's hard to say which seat feels better with respect to how your legs actually come out of the front of the seat. The way the Forza is cut it seems like it might give a little more support to your upper legs but it might hinder any extreme footwork. The Momo feels much more open from the hips down which really is nice for heel toe and moving around on long trips. the real important issue is the width at the hips. The Momo felt a little skinnier and I've found it to be an impossible fit for a lot of larger people. The Forza felt too wide for me, but I am really, really skinny.

I think the Forza is a little better made, but the width of the Forza made me go with the Start. They just fit me better.

I have a pair of black Forzas in the garage that my cats sleep on. I hate those seats. The fabric wore through after one season of autocrossing, and they are not comfortable at all. the extra bolster under the thighs actually cuts off circulation to your feet after awhile. I drove twice roujnd trip to L.A. from Portland straight through and my feet were dying each time. No cheap seats for me anymore.

Good info..I figured the Corbeaus would be a little better quality, but I guess I'm even happier with my Starts now. Sucks about the Forza and the thigh bolster...felt good just sitting there.

With our rear suspension design camber shouldn't effect the toe, but changing toe does effect the camber. Of course it's the opposite in the front, set the camber then set the toe. Btw, xelder, I have a Longacre camber gauge (Magnetic mount) and set of toeplates, that I might be willing to part with, seeing as how I've never used them, and at this point don't foresee using them in the future. Just an fyi.

A friend of mine just got some toe plates, but I think the camber gauge he wanted is on backorder. I'll get in touch with him and see if we can work something out.

In other words +37 offset is the right answer on 15X7 rims with 225 V710's.

Hmm... the group buy on the 15x8 Rotas is starting. Think it'll fit? I know twilightprotege runs 15x7.5 +40mm offset wheels for dragging, but that is with 205 drag radials. arrrggg :D

Edit: seems like the 8" wide would be a close fit without running some serious spacers. Perhaps 7.5" is the way to go.

the one on sccaforums? they're going w/ 4x100.

thanks for the info re: 225s, justin. i'm glad to hear the car is working so well. if there's a divisional at little creek again, i might have to make that one.

As long as you don't mind the wheels sticking out a bit and get the offset right the 8" wheels will be ok with 225 series tires. Might be weird looking on the street though since the backs are going to stickout at least half an inch beyond the fenders.

Yea, one of those guys got a 5 lug one started... he posted it at honda-tech and got a few bites. He's a member here actually, but the wheels are for his race Prelude.

hehe, Justin, your description pops a funny mental image into my brain :D Reminds me of those hooptees you see with tiny wheels sticking way out. I'm going to have to contemplate this. I'd have to raise the ride height and I hate messing with the coilovers (crossing my fingers I don't have to anyways). If I do get these wheels, I'm going to get them powdercoated an obnoxious color. I was thinking lime green :)

nahh that will look like the mexican low rider with the wheels turned inside out. Its gonna be hot man,

seriously, i think it would be good, half inch isnt much in the back, mine stick out a little with spacers, looks mean imo.

I just sold my 626 wheels with the Azenis Rt-615's on them to a friend of mine. Time to start researching again for new rims/tires. I'm still considering dropping to a 14" rim for racing, but I just can't decide yet.

With tires in SP sometimes it is as much what sizes you can get and what it does to your gearing as much as anything else that you can think of.

the widest 14" tire you can get would be the 225/50/14 V710/hoosier currently.

Currently you are running the 225/50/15?
How often are you topping out second gear/shifting to third?
The 14" tire would be umm an inch smaller in diameter so your speed would be down about 2.5 MPH at 60 MPH.

according to my rough calculations assuming the P5 has the same gear ratios as the MSP your current tire (225/50/15) should get you to 60.98
MPH at 6500 RPM (not sure what your redline is) with moving down an inch you should be at 58.43 MPH at 6500 RPM in second gear. not sure how much time you spend in the range or if you are already shifting to 3rd on a lot of courses or not.

see the attachments for the graph version.(1st is 14"'s second is 15"'s)

Also I think 14" wheels are harder to find than either 13" or 15".

Sweet :D You could get in that 15x7.5 or 15x8 GB if you wanted to. I can give organizer's email address. He is registered here but I don't know how often he checks here.
