I'm pretty sure that the header puts you in Street Prepared, but my pdf. reader is crapping out on me right now so I can't check.

Wow, thats alot of info, I'm going to bed, I'll finish reading tomorow...good reading so far though, and good to know also.

good work!

i'm surprised you didn't go w/ a lighter battery.
I probably will eventually. I just haven't done the research for it to see which ones I can get. That also falls under the "not extremely neccesary at this stage" column. Once I get the major stuff sorted I'll go back and do the little things like this.

i'm probably going with this one (highly recommended by the folks on sccaforums):

Hawker Genesis G13EP +/- 10lbs.

good deal on it here.

the hawker odyssey is also recommended.

i think the OE battery weighs ~35lbs?

I took the car to the landfill today to have it weighed. It was in race trim with about 1/3rd tank of gas...I usually go to race with 1/4 tank of gas so there is still a few more pounds to lose just in fuel weight.

With me in the car...2740

I weigh 150 lbs for a weight on the car of 2590 lbs.

Things to do that will still be decreasing weight..

Lighter battery -20 lbs
Reworked side exit exhaust -20 lbs at least
New racing seat -???
New flywheel -10 lbs
Wheels and tires -???
Lighter steering wheel -???

so you've already dropped 126 lbs off the car, and you still have the stock seats, battery, and exhaust?

are you running headers? i think the (cast iron?) exhaust manifold is probably heavy.

i get fuel starvation on course at 1/4 tank...you need to drive harder. ;)

I have a Wagner shorty header...weighs much less than stock header. I haven't had a a starvaiton problem yet at a quarter of a tank, but I bet I'm getting really really close. I might have to rethink the fuel level this season since the R-compound tires are going to allow for a little more lateral G.

i'm planning on the wagner in the spring (along w/ the downpipe and midpipe w/ stock cats)- you like it?

Yea...it does what it is supposed to do. I need to take it off and have some very small gaps welded up where the runners meet the bottom flange though. Other than that it's perfect.

Word. You know where to find me. If that deal with the roll cage guy works out let me know.

aghhh...today kinda sucked. I woke up late so I had to rush to get things done before I went to work. My plan was to take off the cat-back and Mazdaspeed muffler to get an idea of what my noise level was going to be and to get a better look at routing for the new side exit pipe. First, I get to my garage and one of my jackstands has disappeared so I had to fish out my ramps. I get the car up in the air and go to take off the muffler. The first nut comes off perfect, but the second nut decideds it likes being on the bolt too much and brings half the stud with it. Now if I want to sell the muffler I have to grind off the studs and get new bolts. Since there isn't enough support for the cat-back pipe without the muffler to hold it up I remove it to and take the car around the block to see how bad it is. Well...it's pretty ******* loud...and there is a definite loss of torque. So now my car is singing through the mdi-pipe and the whole town can hear me coming..and I'm not coming as fast as I used to. No biggie...I have an appointment with the exhaust shop on Thursday and I have the 323 stationwagon hanging out. So I go jump in the ol' 323 and immediately notice that it has zero brakes. Thank you rear wheel cylinder for making my day even worse. Now I have to drive around the mega-rice sounding Pro5 tomorrow to pick up all the parts I'll need to get rid of the mega-rice sound which happen to be located on opposite sides of town until I can get it to the shop on Thursday. I'm glad to finally be at work and not stressing over the car.

Exhaust Done!

I finally got by the exhaust shop today. Here are the pics. The glasspack used was a little larger than what I wanted (which made it a little more quite than I wanted), but it will serve the purpose until I get some of the more expensive items taken care of. The car sounds very smooth until it gets into the high rpms where it gets just a touch of raspyness. Overall I'm pleased with it and can now concentrate on getting a new mid-pipe.

Word of caution!

Do not try to clean the intake manifold with intake cleaner in your bathroom. I seriously just lost at least 20 IQ points. The little fan in the ceiling didn't help. I'm almost done with the polishing on the manifold. It's been slow going since the weather has gotten so cold that I don't want to do anything. I also ordered the new front brake pads yesterday and I hope they get here tomorrow.
